Meanwhile in Ken Penders fucking world of science and shit, SCIENCE!
This was from a publicly-licences Sonic the Hedgehog comic book, in an issue done by a "professional" artist, in the year 2004 when the Shadow the Hedgehog game came out.
Why wasn't this face a meme? It would be a great reaction image.
The history of old comics and unintentionally hilarious art
Looks like Ash was finally able to prove his love for Mina over Sonic. Hopefully this love triangle dies along with him, honestly.
Yeah I have no sympathy for Ash
Okay, I am going to go into rant mode for this and harshly critique this choice, both from a development and character standpoint... WHY IS TOMMY TURTLE BEING GIVEN ALL THIS ATTENTION AND SUPERPOWERS? Like it doesn't make sense story-wise either; the nanites were things used by ADAM to create robotic matter or some shit, but when it attacks Tommy Turtle, it gives his shell shapeshifting powers and the ability to conjure up stuff with a simple thought. If anything it should have made him Roboticized or something, at least that way Jules Hedgehog would have someone to hang with. I feel like they were trying to go the Marvel superhero approach in having some incident suddenly give the average schmoe superpowers, and here its just fricking dumb.
And why are the writers giving Tommy all this shit? Clearly they're trying to make him more endearing for the reading audience, what with saying he feels small and slow compared to the others, but obviously he is not the reason we freaking read these comics. The comic would be called Tommy Turtle Adventures if that was the case, which it obviously isn't so what is the excuse for this story and half a dozen others focused on trying to expand a generic turtle character? If you don't know what to do with a character, you either make them not appear (not as a constant background character like Fiona) or better yet, kill them off. Also the way he was attacked by the nanites could have at least been a set-up for suspense, instead of him being tickled and all that pseudo-humour bullcrap. This superpower gimmick just overwrites whatever character he had, and now...ugh, where do you even go from here?
Add to that the extremely unspectacular art that comes with Penders like a sheet of toilet paper stuck to his shoe, and you have the last straw many a Sonic fan had with the comics. Tommy Turtle became the most-hated inclusion of a character for the entire comic, and the writers didn't even care (at the time).
Then what the fuck is this?
Did Ken Penders go crazy at this point in hammering in sci-fi tropes that he forgot he write EVE into the comic, a being of Sonic and Robotnik's DNA? (no not like that) Snively was there at this point of the comics too!
What the flying fuck is even going on? Why is Tommy talking and crying into a plate of green slime?
Yeah Snively, how fucking dare you
