✨stickgate refresher✨

i've gotten a few asks about stickgate and realized i never actually posted what it was so let's recap!⬇️

on february 19th during the olympic break the sharks posted this tiktok and i noticed mack was holding a bauer stick that looked identical to will's:

and at first, i thought oh cute like mack grabbed will's stick for him that's adorable! but as many pointed out the stick was a lefty (will shoots righty) and had mack's tape job on it. which meant mack had a custom version of will's stick. which is insane in and of itself but it gets better !

on march 11th the sharks posted another tiktok where will is holding a ccm stick that's identical to mack's!

which means they literally have identical copies of each others sticks. now i haven't seen pics of them practicing with the other sticks so im wondering if its just a them thing either before or after practice which again is insane.

here's a pic of them with their actual sticks just for context and comparison...anyways stickgate was born. to me i feel like it's incredibly intimate to have copies of your teammates' stick that matches your specifications especially when you have literal endorsements with your own stick brands but these two can never be normal about each other so not really surprising!

ok now the question of whether will asked for the stick because he was so proud of mack and it’s just so amazing that his boybestfriend was playing in the fucking olympics with crosby and mcdavid and mackinnon OR did mack just bring a stick back and was like here you go here’s a stick that will constantly remind me of one of my greatest accomplishments but i also probably think of as one of my greatest failures i would like you to add it to your collection of many other hockey sticks (which mostly consists of sticks from your idols) sitting in your parents house

ok ok wait correct me if im wrong but. mack played with the number 17 at the olympics. 96 at worlds last year i believe. and 17 at world juniors. right?? so is this stick from THIS YEAR as in RIGHT NOW ???

so maybe i'm stupid but Where did the #71 canada stick even come from?? because mack didn't wear #71 at the olympics or past world's tournaments, right?? did he express-ship a stick from this year's world's to will just so he gets to add mack's very first Captain Canada Stick to his collection???
