Thanks everybody! I got a few funny looks when I went out, but mostly, no one noticed how weird the hair was.

Also, true confession time. I used the “Beauty” filter on the highest setting taking those selfies. I was hoping to look as much like a portrait as I could and also, like some snotty aristocratic jerk who had a hot date with the guillotine in her near future. ;)

Thanks everyone. It means a lot to me. I’m completely heartbroken and the sympathy helps. At some point I’m going to sit down and write about what this dog means to me (even if I never post it and it’s just for myself), but tonight I’m crying too much every five minutes to even see the laptop properly most of the time. She did have a great life, was massively loved, and did not suffer for very long. @twistedgardener and what’s left of The Pack are getting me through.

I've lived in 5 different cities: 3 in Canada and 2 in Europe. what's your fact?

I’ve lived in a lot of towns, including one in Europe (none in Canada, though), but the only real, actual city I’ve lived in was San Francisco, and I’d move there again in a hot minute if I had the chance. And the multi-million dollar a year salary that I’d need to live there. (edit, no, I forgot that I lived in a pretty big city when I was in college, too.)

Thanks! I Even went up to the mountains for the weekend so they'd miss the random fireworks and firecrackers that go on all weekend, but I had to come home today, so I timed it to get home after 10 pm, hoping the worst would be over, and got out of the car right when it was sheer mayhem outside. My jerk dog runs around barking like a tough guy and my sweet dog is is quivering out of her skin. Kind of settling down now, though. Probably going to be able to go to bed soon.

Mm artichokes are what I live for, I blame my French mother

Most of the artichokes grown in the US are grown in Monterey County, were I was over the weekend, and they had them 7 for $1, so we got 14 of them. Now I feel like I have to eat them every day until they’re gone. I hope I’m not sick of them by the end.
