- Because of you, I am the person I am today. You made me pull my head in when I was a shitty lil fuckboy, and have taught me everything from feminism to meditation to Stoicism, all of which and more have done nothing but improve my life to no end. I have so much more control and power over myself and my life now, thanks to you.

- I love how resilient you are. Remember our old zombie joke? How you just don’t stay down? Last night I tried digging up the email where you described life vs zombie!you; your little skit was perf. But I couldn’t find it and instead had to paraphrase it to Bix, and I don’t think I did it justice but I’m getting off topic. Can’t be tamed yo

- I know that ultimately, I can tell you anything. We’ve had candid conversations about the most un-talkable things, and while I won’t mention ‘em for privacy’s sake, to onlookers: I don’t mean just talk about sex or masturbation or whatever. (We covered that shit years ago. XD this was a whole ‘nother plane.) I’m talking about the convo where you went “hmm, if I think this way, why don’t I feel that way?” about that thing that time.)

- You’ve taught me how to deal with it when people are angry at me, and how to be constructively angry myself. That’s a really big deal, for me.

- You know what you want, you have ambition like nobody else I’ve ever seen, and combined with your resilience and your capacity for long-term vision I just know you’ll go on to achieve incredibly powerful things. Remember me when you’re rich and famous! <3

- We are different. We’re not friends who are “lol exactly alike”; we are very very far apart in many ways, from our approaches to writing to tastes in music to the very way we want to live our lives. And we revel in these differences.

- Many people say that the ability to come back to a friend with whom you haven’t communicated in a long time, and resume talking like nothing happened, is a sign of a true friendship. (I actually disagree for a large part of that, I think it simply means you remember the dynamic you used to have and slip into is easily.) What I think is that true friendship is the ability to ignore each other for ages, know right away without any insecurity whatsoever (because I forget that for so many people this insecurity is a big deal)that all is well and it’s not you, you can shoot a message and a reply of “dude I’m not good for talking right now” is perfectly acceptable and no more explanation is needed, not even when talking is resumed.

Also this kinda segued into another thing: friends can keep each other’s secrets as a sign of trust, but true friends don’t need to know all of each other’s to be close. Some secrets have become common knowledge between you, and others are respected no-go zones.

I digress.

- I love you a lot, and you mean the world to me. Just as you said about me, I can’t imagine my life without you. Thank you.

I’m not drunk, I’m actually kinda sleep deprived, so you’re getting fake bullet points instead of gushing.

- you forgive me for being a dick sometimes because I am a dick sometimes

- you and Joseph are the most responsible for my changing world view on various -isms and justice and violence, and I think technically you’re pretty much singlehandedly responsible for Joseph’s shift so I guess that makes you responsible for both of us

- you’ll call me out on my bullshit when it needs calling out and you’ll let me bitch and whinge when I need to vent and you don’t often get those two situations confused

- you’re always right there to tell me that whatever Mom just told me was wrong

- you’re one of only two people who ever read the stories I post and when you have low self-esteem and are certain you can’t do anything well including the only thing you want to do for a living, that means a lot

1. Who was the last person you held hands with?

Tammy. An older woman from derby with whom I’m friends, for those who don’t know. Having her hands played with calms her down, so when she lost her job and had an anxious breakdown, I listened to her story while (platonically) caressing her hands.

2. Are you outgoing or shy?

Outgoing, but I need to recharge with alone time afterwards.

3. Who are you looking forward to seeing?

You! Er, that is, you who posted this to me. stilettoheeledspoop. It’s been too long since I was last in Sydney.

6. What kind of people are you attracted to?

People who ask “why” and then ask it again and again until they can find something to act on. People with creative thoughts and actions. People who want to let me listen to them, and who want to listen to me. People who don’t assume that my openness and apparent comfort around them means that they see all that I am. Someone who is totally okay with my gender and sexuality stuff, and ideally, who has some interesting quirks as well. Someone who will let me be all this back to them, or whatever it is they need. Stoics are hot and ambition is sexy.

Also, on a lower priority: body mods, cool hair, and freckles.

10. Who was the last person you had a deep conversation with?

Hah, it’s usually easier to say who I didn’t with; most of my non-casual conversations with friends are deeper than any DNM I had when I was younger.

However, today this question is not hard at all: My psychologist, a few hours ago.

17. Do you think there is life on other planets?

Yes. But in what form, I have no idea.

20. Do you like your neighbors?

Yes. They’re extremely quiet; I can count my interactions with any of them on one hand. Suits me perfectly.

26. What do you do when you wake up?

If I have a plan set out the night before, I usually jump up and smash it out. If not, I spend like an hour on my phone, catching up on Tumblr, before grudgingly getting up for breakfast and work.

37. What do you say during awkward silences?

If a silence feels awkward, I’ll look like I’m thinking deeply, then either ask a leading-on question, or go back to something they said earlier and ask for more detail. Asking questions is something I’m good at.

If it doesn’t feel awkward, I’ll quietly enjoy it.

38. Describe your dream person?

Ha, I don’t actually have one. People are too imperfect and diverse to come up with an imaginary person who would be a good match for me. I just like people, and if someone comes along who’s good for me, then sweet.
