Finding something that shouldn’t be there. . .

Half way through this, I realized that putting characters/places from a show that people would vaguely remember/is semi obscure into a place that tries it’s best to recreate said people and places but can’t entirely is kinda strangely poetic in a nostalgic, tragic sense. . .

Anyways, two out of four of these are definitely based off of the film while the rest was just wanting to semi recreate a location in the backrooms etc.

Overall I’ll definitely be doing a part two. ^ ^

What if there was a trend of making a Still Life version of yourself?

Of confronting your worst facets, imaginary or very-much-real, in the way that the Backrooms does?

I mean, most who’ve perused the interwebs in the past couple of years have seen AI-generated images with 6 fingers and whack faces.

And that’s basically Still Lives for you, so I think drawing one (or making one out of origami or in Blender or whatever you want) would be fairly easy?

IDK, just an idea! Of course, in my case, we’d have to make two. Or a two-headed Still Life?

I just looked at clips of the backrooms movie and ARGHH!!! Spoilers below cuz I don’t wanna spoil such a masterpiece!!

Pirate Clark is super interesting to me he has plundered my attention for suresies!!! HE IS GENUINELY SO TERRIFYING LOOKING!!

I really get that feeling of unease looking at him. I dunno why but it’s only in images of him in the movie? The art I see doesn’t bring me the same kind of heebie jeebies? (MOT AS AN INSULT TO THE ARTISTS NEVER THEY ARE SO TALENTED)

Moreover cuz…I think cuz it’s art my brain expects it to look stylised so it isn’t freaked out looking at pirate Clark. BUT WHEN I SEE THE REAL HIM IN THE MOVIE? IT SETS OF MY BRAIN’S “that’s not natural RUN!!!!” Function.

I never experienced the uncanny valley feeling with dolls or whatever triggers it in peopel. I never understood it but…I think this is it? The Clark-Life really triggers something in my brain!!

Also the still lives are one of my favourite horror concepts EVER
