If you’re confused by the profound references, no sequence will actually clear that up. Both seasons and both movies deal with very distinct philosophy concepts and even then they pop in on a variety of different notions too, so no sequence will clear them up.

On the other hand, if it’s world timeline you’re confused by, there is literally no chronology possible that clears it up easily. Different episodes offer different tidbits about the setting, some places have flashbacks, and a few places are just explained as they come up. There’s no way to clarify the setting easily.

And finally, the chronological order of watch doesn’t help anything really. There’s very little foreshadowing and very little overt consequence, with characters only being subtly nudged in certain directions at best.

hey lying! since you brought it up recently, my bro & i were interested in GitS, so we watched the 2008 remake of the movie yesterday. and, uh, we could barely follow any of the plot. should we start with the series instead? or is it just Artsy beyond recognition. (gore & female nudity cws for other interested folx, btw)

Yeah the prevalence of cybernetics definitely encouraged Masamune Shirow to be more graphic with his violence, in addition to the intense world the series inhabits (when you have robot limbs, you’re more inclined to break them, and when you have super-strength, it’s best shown by breaking things after all). And yeah, he likes to show off the female form a lot.

In general the GitS series is one full of deep and profound references to history and philosophy, so either way you’re likely to miss a few of them. The series does have a stronger focus on episodic events rather than concepts and the like, but especially so in the second season (my favourite) I think.

Correct, the original source is @aprilefff. She’s a singer and particularly a youtuber and she does indeed have a genuine history with Turner on her channel until about 2 years ago. Many of the claims of association she makes in her post (besides the criminal ones as far as I can see) are verified by her video archive.

I don’t think @yogscastkimbox or @yogscastduncan are remotely aware of Witch in the Woods, so the likelihood of them recognising the well (which is also pretty far from the castle anyway) is pretty minuscule.

That’s probably for the best though, since the most powerful evil forces are most often unleashed accidentally by people with little understanding of them.
