i could literally talk about languages all day especially japanese because it's such a cool language but it makes me feel like such a weeb so im going to sTOP

hey um I probably sound really ignorant and stuff but what exactly are/is kanji? sorrysorry

yooo don't apologise omg kanji are just part of the japanese writing system that are adopted from chinese characters (hanzi)!! japanese uses three different writing systems but the first 2 (hiragana + katakana) only have like 46 basic characters each because they're phonetic, whereas there is pretty much no limit to kanji so you've just gotta keep expanding your vocabulary

hence why i was meant to be memorising and revising off of the sheet of kanji my teacher gave us before summer

but i have not
