I love the idea of a 'stitching notebook', I kind of want to get into sewing and embroidering soon so I think I'll try making one myself so I can follow my progress
All you need is some plain fabric that you can either stitch directly onto, like the sampler shown, or make stitch samples and sew them onto the fabric pages. That way, you can try out different techniques in small things, like a hoop, before you commit to something large and find out you need a lot of practice to get your French knots to form correctly! When I was younger, I used a fabric with thin stripes to work out embroidery stitches; using the stripes helped to keep the stitches uniformly sized and in a straight line.
