Today, we celebrate the feast day of St. Joan of Arc, the brave French heroine who rallied the troops to conquer the English in Orleans in 1429; was captured by the Burgundians who sold her to their English allies; and after an unfair and unjust trial, this young woman at the age of 19, was burned at the stake on May 30, 1431 at the Rouen Marketplace. 500 years later, she was canonized as a saint by the very same church who burned her years earlier.
