just wanted to say hiiiiiii because i barely see any people using the tag that aren't the same like, 4 people so knowing there's someone else is real fun!
I got into VG over a decade ago and have mostly stuck with the TCG as its grown and changed, but will always have space for talking about how COOL so many characters are!
EYYYY HIIIIII IT'S NICE TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT VANGUARD!!! I don't talk about it a lot on my blog cause i have other hyperfixations, but I really do adore it!
You play the tcg, right? Out of curiosity, what's your main clan/nation?? Mine are Pale Moon, Angel Feather, Link Joker, Dragon Empire, Stoichiea, and Keter Sanctuary!
Very very happy to finally have Argo Sirens in hand, local Aqua Force fan finally has their second AqF deck (Valeos was first)
I wanted a Battle Siren VG for a WHILE and Calliopeia is just 10/10
I just. Still need 7 crits cause all the vanilla ones are way too expensive lol
It's time for the next birthday post~! Today, we'll be diving right back into the world of Persona 3 in order to celebrate the birth of one of my favorite social links (not romantically though, it's more platonic for me)! Everyone, say happy birthday to The Imperious Queen of Executions from Persona 3, Mitsuru Kirijo!
But also Mitsuru I'm sorry cause MOVE ASIDE GIRL WE GOT A MORE IMPORTANT BDAY TO CELEBRATE CAUSE TODAY IS THE BIRTH OF THE ONE THE ONLY LOVE OF MY LIFE GLORIA VANGUARD MEG AKA MEGUMI OKURA FROM CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD OVERDRESS!
Let's start with Mitsuru!
Without diving into a lot of spoilers, Mitsuru Kirijo is one of the playable characters within Persona 3. She's first introduced to the player after the player wanders into Iwatodai Dorm, the place where you'll be staying for the time being. Mitsuru tasks Yukari Takeba with showing the player around the dorms and the school you will attend together! However, Mitsuru secretly watches over you, wondering if you have the potential she's looking for...what potential is that? To be a Persona user! When the devilish Shadows attack the dorms, the player awakens to their Persona in order to save everyone as Mitsuru deems that you are strong enough to handle the dangerous missions...and so, Mitsuru scouts you to be part of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad and fight the Shadows!
Personality wise, Mitsuru is a very elegant woman whom everyone looks up to. Being from a rich family, Mitsuru is always very calm and polite to everyone around her but will not hesitate to insult someone if they disgust her. She's mature and always calm, always ready to give advice when necessary. Surprisingly, she enjoys a good fight and kicking ass whenever she's fighting Shadows. She's also a bit sheltered and can be socially awkward and oblivious to a few things.
Mitsuru has three different voice actors. Her Japanese voice actress is Rie Tanaka who's known for voicing Himeko Murata from Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail, Lisa Imai from Genshin Impact, Kiara Sesshion from the Fate series, Lacus Clyne from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Neptune/Purple Heart from the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, Rosetta from Granblue Fantasy, Matia from Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Aphrodite from Record of Ragnarok, Mimori Mizuha from Blue Archive, Hikari Kujo/Shiny Luminous from Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart, and so much more!
The main English voice actress that has been in most of the Persona games is Tara Platt who's known for voicing Edelgard von Hresvelg from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Elizabeth within the Persona series, Kali Belladonna from RWBY, Yuri Watanabe from the Spider-Man (2018) game, Temari Nara from the Naruto series, Vert/Green Heart in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, Ester from Ben 10: Omniverse, Wang Yuanji from the Dynasty Warriors series, and so much more!
During Persona 3 Reload, the entire cast of S.E.E.S was replaced which means Mitsuru did as well! Mitsuru's voice actress during this time is Allegra Clark who's known for voicing Acheron from Honkai: Star Rail, Dorothea Arnault and Shamir Nevrand from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Beidou from Genshin Impact, Rosetta from Granblue Fantasy, Atalanta and Semiramis from the Fate series, and so much more!
Here's a bonus fact! In the Persona 3 stage show known as Persona 3: The Weird Masquerade, Mitsuru is portrayed by Asami Tano who also voices Akane Hino/Cure Sunny from Smile Pretty Cure!
As stated in the introduction, I'm not a fan of Mitsuru in terms of a romantic partner. I specifically prefer her as a best friend! I LOVE her energy dude like- BRUH! I love her style, her fashion, the way she murders, HELL YEAH GIRL KILL PEOPLE AND BE STYLISH ABOUT IT-! Mitsuru has always been like an older sister to me and I would like to keep it that way lol- she's just another bestie I would commit a crime with! Happy birthday Mitsuru!
Now IT'S MEGUMI TIME BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Megumi Okura is one of the main characters within the new era of Vanguard known as Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress. She belongs to a wealthy family and attends Dreamland Wonder Hill, an abandoned amusement park that is the home of the Vanguard team known as Team Blackout where everyone can be free and feel protected under the darkness of the night. Although she's had many ups and downs, she's grown into a very independent woman as of Cardfight!! Vanguard DivineZ and has entered university while becoming the new leader of Team Blackout!
Personality wise, Megumi is a very headstrong woman who can be refined and distinguished when she wants to be, but wild when she wants to let loose! She's very good in her academics and sports but can get very competitive and excited way too easily. She's someone who values self-reliance and wishes to rely more on herself than her family's wealth in order to live while also leaning on her friends from time to time when she needs to. While she hates losing, she loves having fun even more and continues to hold the values of Team Blackout close to her heart!
Megumi is voiced by Amane Shindou who's known for voicing Mashiro Kurata from BanG Dream! Girls Band Party, Mikage Yakumo from Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record, Haruna Kasuga from D4DJ, HMS Hero (H99) from Azur Lane, Icicle Yeti Cookie from Cookie Run: Kingdom, Kurumi Haraga from The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, Smart Lady from Kamen Rider 555 (Pronounced Faiz) 20th Paradise Regained, and so much more!
Megumi's main deck was the same as her older brother. Both of them use the Sylvan Horned Beast archetype which are beasts that roam the nation of Stoicheia and are loyal to their king, Magnolia. Back during the beginning of overDress, Megumi's ace was Sylvan Horned Beast King Magonlia who's a very basic deck that allows you to gain more attacks! As I've explained before, there's three rows you can summon units to; three in the front and three in the back. Normally, the units in the back row can't attack, but Magnolia allows them to attack with his skill! Magnolia chooses a unit to attack from the back row and gives it an extra +5,000 power! But if you Persona Rode this turn (aka placing a unit with the same name on top of the other unit), Magnolia chooses the entire back row!
While Magnolia has gotten so many support cards and two new upgrades, Magnolia would get a new form when Megumi got reintroduced in DivineZ Season 3! Megumi's new Magnolia upgrade is called Sylvan Horned Beast Emperor, Magnolia Patriarch who calls a Sylvan Horned Beast from the graveyard on summon! It has a continuous effect where if the opponent has a level 3 or higher Vanguard, the back row units can be used as shields to defend yourself during the battle phase AND all other units gain +5,000 power! If you Persona Rode, then Magnolia gains an extra drive check (basically think of Digimon Security Checks)! Finally, Magnolia can choose as many units (with the max being the same level as the opponent's Vanguard) and allow them to attack from the back row! The max Magnolia will ever receive with this skill is 3 since most Vanguards go up to level 3 but this still allows Magnolia to pressure the opponent! Sure, this may seem slow and Magnolia does pull off some weak numbers in his attacks, but with all the support Magnolia has received, that can quickly change! The numbers can quickly become BIG numbers and force your opponent to take at least SOME of the damage since they can't defend against all of it! After all, you've got six attacks to perform! They can't guard all of it~!
MEGUMIIIIIIII GLORA MEG GLORA VANGUARD MEG AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I've been a Megumi fan since DAY ONE AND I'M SO HAPPY THAT SHE'S GETTING SO MANY VICTORIES LIKE SHE FUCKING DESERVES DUDE LIKE AHHHHHHHHHHHH- Megumi has been SO shafted by bushiroad and she's been so hated by so many people that whenever Megumi gets some content, I jump at the first thing I see- plus I've been playing Magnolia since DAY ONE and have Megumi and Magnolia sleeves cause I love them lol- I was like- what- a junior in high school when overDress started and instantly fell for Megumi after episode one- like BRUH SHE'S SO CUTE AND COOL AND I LOVE HERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR AND I'M SO GLAD SHE'S GROWN UP SO MUCH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Megumi really doesn't deserve all the bullshit she gets so like- Megumi great Megumi cool Megumi is love Megumi is life I love her- her story should be about growing up and becoming her own person while learning to rely on people and use her own strength instead of just lusting after Danji 24/7- while I am SUPER proud of her for using Danji's personality for her own strength, I kinda feel a bit disturbed by it since it feels like she hasn't moved on from Danji....BUT STILL I'LL TAKE ANY VICTORY I CAN GET
AND SINCE WE ALL KNOW I LOVE MEGU SHE DESERVES A FIC SO HERE WE GO BABYYYYYYYYYYYY
Megumi Okura x Gender-Neutral Reader
"Magnolia attacks!"
The crowd screamed as the Sylvan Horned Beast King charged head first at the enemy.
"Drive check! Overtrigger! Magnolia gains one million power!"
With a deafening roar, Magnolia crashes into the enemy, knocking them to the ground with all of his might. Their defenses were destroyed as all the guardians that had protected them were launched into the abyss when Magnolia's head connected with the body.
"And the winner is…Megumi Okura~!"
The crowd cheered as Okura Megumi raised her fist into the air with a small scream of her own. You couldn't help but chuckle. You've known Megumi for such a long time, so to see her like this brought an immense amount of joy to your heart. She was allowed to be free. Truly free. Free from all of the troubles that plagued her 24/7, free from the social conflicts she could experience, free from…everything. All that mattered here was having as much fun as she wanted.
As Megumi left the stage and wiped some sweat off of her brow, you and the rest of Team Blackout tackled her into a hug while Megumi's screams echoed throughout the stadium. "H-HEY! GUYS!"
"MEGUMIIIIIIIII!" you cried along with the others who called out her name. "YOU DID IT!!! YOU REALLY DID IT!!"
"Of course I did it!" Megumi gasped, trying to shake off the hive mind that was Team Blackout. "G-guys, I can't breathe! Get off!"
"That's enough everyone," Ishigame Zakusa chuckled, attempting to shake everyone off of the university student. "I believe (Y/N) and Megumi-san deserve some time together, correct?" Zakusa chuckled, turning towards you. You merely gave him a thumbs up as Zakusa led the others away while you and Megumi walked back to break rooms together, hand in hand.
"Megumiiiii~"
"Yes?"
"Meeeegumiiii~"
Megumi couldn't help but chuckle as you called her name again and again. "What, (Y/N)?"
"Did you know I love you?" you asked her. "I love you soooo much~!"
"I know, I know~" Megumi sighed, gently squeezing your hand. "I love you too."
As you released her hand, you bowed towards her. "I will always love you till the end of time~! For I am your knight and you are my king~! My precious Glora Vanguard Meg~!"
Megumi's face blushed as she glanced away, quickly walking past you. "Dude…I thought I told you not to use that nickname..it's embarrassing…"
"But your expressions are cute, Gloria Vanguard Meg~"
I may not have built any new decks for DBT-02 through 04, but when reveals for DBT-05 started, I just knew I had to build Rorowa. At the time he was another cheap deck, being considered one of the weaker new bosses introduced in the set.
But here we are now and he's gotten some pretty good new cards. Not to mention, he's about to get even more support in DBT-11, which I'll have to share an updated list for once I decide how I want to adjust my ratios for new cards.
Unfortunately, because of newer support, Rorowa isn't necessarily super budget anymore, at least with this particular build, but there are definitely changes that could help make it more affordable.

For anyone reading this that might be new to the game, or even if you're a veteran that missed out on V-era and overDress so far, then tokens are something you might not have seen before.
Rorowa wasn't the first deck in D to utilize tokens, that would be Orfist, but it was the first one for Stoicheia. He brought back the Plant tokens introduced during V-era and uses them to fill the board for various abilities.
Because of the ride line skills, Rorowa can easily have a full field by grade 2, with riding the grade 2 on top of the 1 allowing you to call two plant tokens as long as you retire a rearguard. Since riding the grade 1 on top of the 0 lets you call a plant to back row center, this skill is practically guaranteed to activate.
Once you get to grade 3, you can soulblast a card once per turn to call three more plants if you wanted, and when you are being attacked, Rorowa can retire his own plant tokens to gain 5k power per retire for the duration of that battle.
The ability to flood your board with plants, rather than units from hand, is pretty important since you're going to retiring a good number of them every turn if the deck decides to cooperate.
Thankfully, Prodpollen Rafilous, Salvia, and Burrow Mushrooms can all help you get more plant tokens after you've already used up Rorowa's call. Prodpollen calls two plants when placed for the cost of a counterblast, making her a good choice for your grade 2 turn if you want to rush your opponent. Salvia requires you be on grade 3, but calls a plant for no cost when placed, helping you build a column or get you more boosters. And finally Burrow Mushrooms, which is technically a card for a different deck but can be played in basically any Stoicheia deck, goes to soul to give you two more plant tokens. In Burrow Mushrooms's case, you can't get the full effect since you won't be on a Granfia vanguard, but the rest of the skill that can be used is more than powerful enough for our purposes.
Aside from token callers, your most important rearguard unit is the grade 2 Radylina. For the cost of a counterblast, she lets you call a Momokke token to the field, and if you place it in the same column as her, it can attack from the back row. Funnily enough, a lot of the time, you want to give the power from triggers to your Momokke. Why? Because Radylina can add Momokke's power to her own for a single soulblast. Meaning if your Momokke was somehow 50k, then Radylina could be 60k or 70k.
Speaking of Momokke, this token is the reason you're going to be retiring so much. Once per turn, Momokke can retire as many of your own units as you like and gains 5k power for each. Typically you'll want to retire at least three units, preferably plants or Signpost Fairy, to make Momokke as large as possible.
Signpost Fairy helps with this because of it's ability to give a grade 1 or less unit an extra 10k power when retired by one of your skills, as long as your vanguard is a Glitter. Since you should always be on Rorowa, who is a Glitter, Signpost Fairy will always trigger when retired by Momokke, and conveniently Momokke is also the one you want to have the 10k.
Another card that helps buff your Momokke and other back row tokens is Resolute Pair of Eyes. This set order can only be played if you have a Rorowa vanguard by counterblasting and retiring a rearguard, most likely a plant. When it's placed, you can search for a Radylina and add her to your hand, meaning you can now grab either the grade 2 or 3 depending on what you need in hand. In addition, as long as it's in the order zone, all your back row tokens gain 5k power. You want to try to play as many of this order as you can manage so your tokens can boost for higher numbers.
Having grade 3 Radylina also be searchable helps with the number of attacks you get for potential kill turns. Your Radylina should normally be the final attack on most turns, but grade 3 Radylina has an auto skill that activates when she's in your hand. By retiring both your Momokke and your attacking Radylina, she can call herself during the battle phase and gain the power of the retired Momokke. This can make for some really funny interactions if you just so happened to check the over trigger that turn. And even if you didn't, that's still likely to be three large attacks, forcing a lot of cards out of your opponent's hand if it doesn't outright end the game. Plus she calls Momokke back at the beginning of your next main phase in case the game keeps going, letting you keep your four attacks a turn.
A few possible alternative choices for the deck would include:
-Blue Artillery Dragon, Inlet Pulse Dragon
Let's get this out of the way. Don't play this card. It's stupidly overpriced and there's no reason to run it in this deck. Yes you can get four attacks and that procs the skill to send it to soul and draw, but you don't need it. Burrow Mushrooms already gives you soul and if you're using your tokens well, your hand size will be fine. I only mention this card because it's for sure going to show up on lists other people make. Inlet Pulse just isn't worth your money for a card where you can't even get the full effect.
-Full Blown Dragon
A card I previously played in this deck, before the release of Burrow Mushrooms. The main reason to play this card would be if you're still having a soul problem or if you want to guarantee you'll have tokens to use defensively during your opponent's turn. Could potentially remove Salvia and one copy of Signpost Fairy if you desperately want to run this card.
-Prolific Orange
This is another card that's technically intended for Granfia, but there's no vanguard restriction, so Rorowa can also make use of it. This grade 3 order is potentially a replacement for Prodpollen if you can't afford her. The skill is effectively the same, just counterblast one for two plants. The main drawback would be having to wait until grade 3, when you usually want to be playing Resolute Pair of Eyes, and the fact that there's no shield value as an order.
-Ranran Orangerine
I don't recommend using this card as an alternative unless there's just no other better options you have access to. While you can get the one plant token for free on place, it essentially becomes useless after that since the second skill requires a Granfia vanguard.
-Blooming Petal, Caryophyllus
Not especially useful anymore. This card had its uses up until DBT-08, but your soul is unlikely to be low enough to activate this skill unless you're either playing very aggressively or the game has gone on a very long time. Could potentially replace Salvia if you really needed it.
-To The Shining Stage!
Mainly to help you recycle your Radylina since she's likely to be a target for bullying, but can technically call anything from drop as long as it's the same grade as your vanguard or lower. Soulblasting a Burrow Mushroom and calling it essentially refunds the cost if you send to soul for plants immediately.
-Prized Trident
Counterblasts shouldn't be much of an issue in this deck, but this card is a decent option for turns when you'll get five attacks since it can then send itself to soul and countercharge one. Normally you can only get four attacks consistently, but Radylina's grade 3 does open up the option for five attacks.
-Knight of Nostalgia, Marco
This is basically the card that Signpost Fairy ended up replacing for my list. He gives 5k power to a grade 1 or less when placed. I wouldn't replace Signpost Fairy with this, but they could be played together.
-Adhesive Thread Mutant, Actiasticky
Not a fan of this unit personally, but certainly much cheaper than Inlet Pulse if you just desperately want that draw. Retiring two and counterblasting one is a bit steep for the skill to activate, but it could be worse.
-Trigger Line Up
I personally like rainbow triggers for this build, but you could definitely change things to fit your preference. If I had to cut any trigger, it would be the fronts. The extra 5k shield is nice, but maybe you prefer more crit or more draw.
As the everything bagel of over triggers, I recommend sticking with Blessfavor unless you just can't afford it. Olbaria isn't ideal, but it's a perfectly functional replacement. As of writing this, Festival for 2023 isn't out yet, but either of the Cray Elemental introduced there could also work. Valnout is the better option if you want to re-stand your Radylina or Momokke. Idosfaro is better if you want to retrieve units from drop and give a critical to a rearguard.
Rorowa will be back again soon with DBT-11 on the horizon. How much will he change? Not sure yet, but I guess we'll see soon.
Remember, these deck lists are for fun and not necessarily optimized. If you have another card that you think would make a better fit, then go for it and test it out.
If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to send me a message!
