BEYOND VICTIMHOOD

You divorce yourself from a neutral reality

only to bed a bag on inflamed guts.

There's a razor nestled

between your ribs

and you use it as a think piece

instead of a defensive implement

as your hands begin to resemble

the faces for which they once aimed.

You're better than this.

You label yourself

a victim

but you know

you're a leviathan

that is capable of smiling

with the intent of brightening the depths,

not out of spite

but because

it's the revolutionary thing

to do.

Be strong, soft heart. For the world isn’t kind, And will sap you of your life. But still, love as you always do.

Be still, anxious heart. For the world feeds on your worries, And shatters your resolve. But persevere, for others find comfort in you.

Be steadfast, passionate heart. For the world wishes to extinguish you. Don’t be shackled by them, For you were born to do wonders.

Be warmed, hard heart. For the world chokes your soul. They fear, knowing there is no bounds, To the inspiration you were meant to be.

Don’t bother me…

It’s been a day, Quite certainly a week, But hasn’t reached, Into the year.

Silent chambers console me. A loud mind controls me. Hush up look down. No one wants to hear from you.

Cold suffering in my veins, Hardly cools my burning head. I’ll be fine, an unsteady mantra. Slowly I die.

So I lie in a suffocating shelter. My psyche whispering sweet lies. I don’t want to be a bother, So don’t bother me…

As I was drawing this I hear my sister say “yeah I added some salt on the chocolate” and in rapid succession I hear my brother and father go “SALT?!” Together

what used to make my heart race now brings a smile

something freeing in the way we don't seek things of old
