I don’t know what to say. I like Legend of Zelda. I like Golden Shrike. I’ve been in a wicked art slump and somehow this is what got me out of it.
He has no name because nothing I come up with hits like “Link” does. He’s here to eat evil bugs
Hi!! I've been reading GS for such a long time now and LOVE your work! I'm so excited to see how this little group of stragglers are going to save the world!
I did have a question regarding Stonekrovn behavior - Their inherent distrust of the group at first, leading to an a near miss with an unjustful murder, was this just due to the high stakes of the situation ? or is anyone who wanders into Krovn territory usually dead on arrival.
I feel sympathy for what the group went through, losing pups to people who assume they are heroes for destroying something they won't and don't understand is horrific and genocidal in nature, wishing to snuff something out.
But I've always been curious about other mouths, other Stonekrovn groups. I assume they don't kill on sight?
If this is going to be answered with later chapters concerning Boneslav's aunt, that's exciting and no worries about a solid answer, I've just always been curious.
I feel as though the "almost murdered" aspect of that scene is often brushed over within the group and a part of me sort of hopes it may be spoken about again.
Either way, love your work! :D and thank you for sharing such a lovely comic with us!
Nobody really wanders to krovns' territory as it's dangerous and unhospitable for deer due to the terrain and beasts already. Anyone walking into their home will be driven out since this is where grasslanders have driven stonekrovns. The guy they killed + his friends were known for what they had previously done, which is why they were straight up murdered. And because it's so out of the norm for there to be so many tourists, the krovns figured Nero, Runi and Kasko were part of the same group.
We're gonna get more stone lore, but most groups aren't experiencing the cruelty of grasslanders thus they're also not out there killing them either.
Artfight attack for @tokkosoap!! Here's Splicecutter and his halv
Is the still-born, ever-aging, and chaotic environment of the GS world only effecting deer, or is it effecting all species (birds, wolves, maybe even plants)? I reread the section where Boneslav is reporting the struggles of his pack to Tongue, including a reduction in prey, but I wasn’t sure if that was more of a seasonal issue
We won't be peeking into other lifeforms and how/if Karuna affects them. I want to keep Karuna vague and not deny or confirm if he's just the deer's creator of if he's everyone's.
Bones mentioning the food being scarce is because their elders won't die and need the sustenance, and mourners likely eat to drown some sorrows. That plus it's a mountain, so there's not that much to begin with.
I was thinking of making my own deer oc from GS. Maybe one of the wolf deer (they’re my favorite), so I wanted to ask what kinda diversity they had, if that was ok. :3 Cause Ik we saw a bunch of different kinds of them before, but do they have like any special mutations or unique marks or etc I could draw ideas from? ^^
Earthy, usually grey tones. Light yellow to orange to red eyes, other eye colors are super rare. All stonekrovns have a tail tine that points down or back. They never have socks and their underside is usually lighter than the rest. Krovns will always be bigger than regular deer and their stature is hunched like caribou's. I looked at wolf pelts to find ideas, and then simplified them a whole lot.
Deer in GS seeing the Stonekrov: Terrifying.
The readers seeing the Stonekrov: Pubby.
We are simple creatures. We see teeth and dog ears and instinct takes over.
Heya!
I don't know if this was already asked but I remembered that Stonekrovns seem to be names after traits or something that happened (i.e. Boneslav <- loves bones) and that the name can change (Songjav -> Grimjav because of the injury) and was wondering how common the latter is?
In that vein I was also wondering what Loudkill (fave girl, I'd really want to cuddle her) did and what her name was before that or if that's her first name (because the mental image is kinda fun)
Sorry if this ask is a word vomit ^^" I really like GS and its worldbuilding
Also I saw the ask where you answered that you like sheep and goats in art and wanted to recommend Corpse to you before I had to pause and stare at my phone for a bit
It's not very common, but common enough that there'll always be couple of name changers in one group. A life changing event is most often the inspiration for a name change, but nobody will bark if you just choose that a new name suits you better.
Puppy krovns have one word names, Loudkill was Loud, because she was one loud child. Her sister Gutpull might've been Pull, or something entirely different before her very cool stunt during hunting. Boneslav's first name was lav, Love. Because he was very much loved!
(Hmmm I looked up Corpse... checks a few boxes for me, might read. Almost feels like something I could've come up myself! I'd do it better of course.)
