[10:23pm] possible preview of stoner!haechan full fic
The silence fell over you like an avalanche of hidden feelings, coating the atmosphere in a thick and tense truth. Your hands shook with anger and your eyes with tears, forcing you to blink them back before they threatened to fall. You could feel the thump of your heartbeat in your neck and it was screaming in your ears, your mind clouded with disbelief and raw emotion.
Stoner!Haechan was always a little snarky, saying things at the worst times that tore apart your self-esteem. He was always a little distant, his lips on yours one day, whispering how much he loves the feeling of your warm hands running across his skin, the next day recoiling from your touch as if you were a parasite. Haechan was always a little too knowing, he knew he had you wrapped around his finger like a boa constrictor wrapped around its prey.
None of that bothered you, though. Because you knew that at the end of the day his lips would always find their way back to yours, albeit a little bitter from the coating of weed that sat on his tongue. The feeling of being full when his hand interlaced with yours on the sober days he spent at your apartment drove your heart wild. His eyes closed from laughing too hard whenever you made a joke rather than them falling shut because he was too cross-faded to keep awake: that. That was what you fell in love with.
Not this.
You didn’t fall in love with the overly-giggly boy who’s legs were falling from underneath him in front of you, a bottle of beer with sloshing liquid in his hand. His body swayed back and forth, trying to stand upright. His smile was relaxed and his eyes were red along with his cheeks and neck.
He would’ve been beautiful if it weren’t for the smell of alcohol and cannabis that stung your nostrils.
You said nothing, not even having the will to let your tired eyes meet his. A pat on the shoulder was all you received as you stood in the middle of the doorway.
“Thanks.” He slurred, gently pushing your body out the doorway. It wasn’t hard to do so, and you slumped against the frame dejectedly.
You let him walk into your quaint and pure apartment, the scent of weed and hard liquor filling the once happy walls with heartbreak. BestFriend!Jaemin looked back at you from his place on the couch, seeing Haechan stumble his way to the bathroom, muttering something about the toilet. His eyes look away at a distance for a second, before he bitterly nodded and stood up, grabbing his stuff before slipping past you out the door.
“It’s your decision, Y/n. I think it’s really simple.” He looked back into the house at the sound of a hurling Haechan, then back to you, his eyes red and mouth in a tight line,
“Clearly not, though.”
