The letter asks for seven workers ordered to leave the country to be offered open work permits and allowed to continue working as groomers.
Sept 1, 2019 | The signatories of the letter want to see Cruz Villegas and the other deported workers offered open work permits and temporary permits to live in Canada.
They also want assurance the crackdown won’t be repeated.
Syed Hussan, co-ordinator of the Migrant Workers Alliance for Change, said his organization is concerned about what the deportations say about how migrant workers are treated in Canada.
“We need an understanding for why they did not go with (Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada) and offer them these permits,” Hussan said in a phone interview Sunday. “This is part of a broader process of how migrant workers are faring in this country.” LINK
