Attention, everyone! There is currently a petition to allow trans people to self-identify our legal gender! This would make it a hell of a lot easier to change our gender, and give us a hell of a lot more dignity - right now, we have to get a diagnosis of gender dysphoria to change our gender legally. A doctor literally has to sign off on the fact that we are trans - a doctor we have to either wait 6+ years to see, or pay a lot of money that a lot of people can't afford, just so we can be treated as ourselves.
The petition is already over 9000 signatures! At 10k, it will receive a government response, and at 100k, it may be debated in pariiament!
If you live in the UK, please sign this petition! If you don't but you know someone who does live in the UK, please sent it to them!
We believe the government should change legislation to make it easier for trans people of all ages to change their legal gender without an o
EDIT: the gov has responded - as was expected, their comment was "no we won't do that", but keep signing the petition because at 100k it may be debated in parliament, when more than just one person can say their piece!
Hey guys it’s kinda scary sometimes how little attention European petitions get. This is a petition about safe abortions in the European Union. We need a million signatures and it’s already pretty far, but we’re not there yet.
It will run until 2025, 24th of april.
Give your support !
I hope this will reach a lot more people so we can get to that million. It’s very important that abortion is safe and accessible as it will safe lives.
The UK Labour govt has proposed changes to the teaching about gender in schools that amount to a new Section 28 - essentially teaching that every form of gender identity is wrong, that a very basic and inaccurate xx = female XY = male form of biological sex is the only truth, and preventing school staff sharing their own gender identity or discussing it with pupils.
Section 28 seriously fucked me up as a teen and I do not intend to let them do this to a new generation of queer kids.

Girls in Sierra Leone are still being cut. The president can stop it — if enough of us speak out. Add your name to help ban FGM now.
"Dear friends around the world,
My name is Alimatu, and I’m a survivor of female genital mutilation (FGM) from Sierra Leone. And today, I’m asking for your help:
For the first time in our history, West Africa’s top court has ruled that female genital cutting is torture – and that Sierra Leone must ban it. This moment could change everything!
Our President has championed important steps towards women’s rights before: he chose a female VP, declared rape a national emergency, and proudly said “the future of Sierra Leone is female.” But to this day, he has not committed to an explicit ban on FGM!
That’s where you come in: As he decides whether to push for a ban, I’m asking you – from every corner of this world – to stand with us activists and survivors, urging our president to ban female genital cutting. I will take our call directly to his office with Sierra Leone’s youth and a hard-hitting ad campaign. Are you joining me?
With fierce hope,
Alimatu Dimonekene MBE – with the entire team at Avaaz."

Please share this petition. Reblog it, send it to friends, show it to family, and most importantly: read up on FGM. It can be a disturbing topic, but understanding this issue is incredibly important. We need to learn about the horror women and AFAB individuals still undergo in the world so that we can help put a stop to it.
