i just. i was newly disabled when i first read trc, but i didn’t really understand it yet, and that wasn’t really present in the original series anyway. and it’s just been such a lovely surprise to have these books grow alongside me, and meet me where i’m at now.
i don’t look to ya or mainstream pub for meaningful disabled representation bc i typically find more magic and insight in indie/self-pub fiction and nonfiction from other bitter cripples and badly-behaved neuroweird ppl.
and just. what a delight to have something you already love, something magical and wonderful that was previously separate from the other parts of yourself merge with the rest of the things that occupy ur mind 24/7!!!! wrt to trc/tdt i often think, “well, it would be cool if xyz happens, but i know whatever stief does will surprise me and it will be good,” and it’s so very true when it comes to the disability and chronic illness themes in tdt.
