Together with many thanks to everyone who posted good wishes and stay-safe messages, here’s an update to yesterday’s post.
Many places are a mess - 60,000 homes without power, Cork flooded when the River Lee burst its banks, roads blocked by fallen trees, you name it.
However we’ve been very lucky (SO FAR, let’s not tempt fate): our power has stayed on, the high ground and good local drainage has prevented any flooding despite some like-it’s-going-out-of-style rainfall, and there seem to be no fallen-tree holes in the skyline.
Storm Barra is moving off, despite occasional ferocious Not-Done-Yet gusts out of a near-clear sky (any one of which could switch us off with a fallen branch, so “Don’t get cocky, kid!”)
