I’ve been revising Irish and I had completely forgotten how much of an extra language it is.
For example, in English you say “I am really sorry.” The Irish translation is literally “the sadness of the world is upon me.” Tá brón an domhain orm. 💀🇮🇪

Leaving Cert Results
Hi everyone! so I got my lc results yesterday and overall I’m happy. However, I may get 3 subjects appealed because I feel like I was downgraded in those subjects. I got a total of 541 points which I feel is great. My aim was over 550 but I’m still so grateful. In no way am I trying to brag or anything this is just for me to process my grades.
I got 2 H1s in chemistry and home ec - to be honest this really shocked me as I was expecting to get a H2 in these subjects and I was predicted H2 for UCAS.
I got 3 H2s in Irish, Biology and English - really happy with this, honestly thought I would get a H1 in Irish though since I was predicted this for UCAS.
I got a H3 in Spanish - I think I’m going to appeal this one as I was predicted a H1 for Spanish, so we’ll see how it goes!
In maths I got an O2 - to be honest I was quite disappointed with this grade since I was getting O1s all year so I’m going to appeal this one too.
So that’s it, it’s been such a crazy ride! Now, I have got to wait for offers on Friday.

For me
a really important part or productive study is setting your environment. It may take me an extra 10 or 15 minutes to settle down and get to, but I'll be far more productive than if I just plonk myself down at my desk or at my bed. I do suffer from acute ADHD so focusing for long periods (and hyperfocusing!) is a real task for me. If I can stay a step ahead of my brain by creating a calm and useful environment, these issues aren't as pronounced. (And what works for me may not for everyone else but here are my key elements to creating a positive study environment)
Lofi hiphop or Chillhop (playlist link below) music playing over a speaker (nicer quality than over a phone or laptop and no headphones can prevent hyperfocusing - obviously if I'm in a public setting i use headphones though) - I absolutely can't focus in silence, I need an external stimulus going on that won't be too distracting, such as TV or music with lyrics
No TV or accessible Phone - I have all distracting apps on a timer on my phone, and i like to play music on youtube so I can't do anything with my phone (I don't have premium)
Lighting either a scented candle (candle in photo is frankincense) or incense - i find this calms me and also occupies one of my senses, taking up the space of a more distracting stimulus
Having either water or a hot beverage (probably tea - I cant have caffeine anymore) nearby, and possibly a smalls snack - I like to do something nice like make cucumber (or other flavoured) water, use one of my favourite mugs, or one of my fancier tea blends. It makes it a little more fun and it's a good treat in place of saying "if I geth through this i can do/have...." , I allow myself a small treat while studying so its a little more pleasurable
Reducing the brightness on my laptop screen - to stop my eyes getting tires
Taking regular breaks (depending on the task) and regulating when i eat my meals throughout the day
Xx
