4 teams presented at the end of the day with really impressive results! Summaries of them are below and the submissions are posted on Challengepost at http://hopperstormhackmtl.challengepost.com/
Team HipsterHacker (George, Matt & Victor) presented a real-time geolocation of Twitter hashtags using the Twitter firehose, Riak, and the Google Maps API.
Team NBC (David L. & Anton) filtered Tweets out by hashtags then ran it through a system to sort by popularity, excluding celebrities and news sites, to get a list of influential people.
Team What I Hate The Most (Luis) looked at what people hate on Twitter, filtering multiple keywords using Storm to get an ordered list of things people hate. It turns out that what people hate the most on Twitter? Other people.
Team What’s Hot (David C. & Putra) our WINNING TEAM, built a hack to filter out trending YouTube videos from the Twitter firehose, using the URL-shortening services common on Twitter.
Thanks to everyone who attended!
