(I just think it's really silly that Adolin wants to teach his gf how to use her magic glowy weapon, leads into it by bringing up spicy food, and she assumes it's about parricide. Adolin: you know how food can be hot? Shallan: is he about to say he doesn't think I'm hot anymore or is this a lead-in to how hot the tears were on my face as I sang my father to death? Adolin: knowledge of the blade is also very hot. Shallan: Oh. Oh, what?)

jasnah kholin... my god. my GOD. anyway I finished my oathbringer reread and EVERYTHING she does in the battle of thaylen field had me going 😳😳😳. when she stalks through the city looking between realms of reality and transforming air into stone steps under her feet... hot as hell.

also it's bookended by 1) her deciding not to kill her cousin even though she thinks he's gone evil because she LOVES HIM and they are the two weirdos of the family. and 2) her getting made queen in the planet's most stupidly gendered society. anyway jasnah kholin i love you

Fascinating that 'bearer of agonies' is the name of a chapter about taravangian, who uses it to describe the duty of kingship-- but mraize uses it later to refer to taln, who we're told in a previous book was the only one of the heralds who wasn't a king or great leader.
