Hackney Wick
March 2019
Stour Space, Hackney Wick, London, 2016
In the 70s and 80s - when there was large scale manufacturing - Hackney still bore the scars of post-war slum clearance. We highly recommend delving into its history through these previously unseen images by Neil Martinson. A real microcosm for the making of modern Britain.
Looking for something to see this bank holiday weekend? Well, Brothers of the Stripe (an awesome collective of illustrators, graphic designers and image makers) have each collaborated with one of the best female illustrators on the UK scene. A brilliant low-key exhibition of original illustrations and prints on display at Stour Space, Hackney Wick. I highly recommend heading there before it ends this weekend.
Opening times: 5th-29th August, 9am-5pm daily, free entry
Artists:
Mr Beef, Katie Benn, Tim Cockburn, Libbi King, Joel Millerchip, Sandra Diekmann, Caroline Roose, Chris Fairhead, Dionisio Tzavalas, Sam Peet, Jennifer Dionisio, Stephen Chan, Patrick Schmidt, Felicity Marshall, Will Scobie, Rich Fairhead, Jenny Bell, Kristian Jones, Iain Mcarther, Castro Smith, FiST, Ceal Warnants, Nikki Marie Jackson, Lucy Eldridge, Charlotte Quillet, + More TBA

The show continues until the 26th so pop down to Stour Space and have a look and maybe buy a little slice of poster joy while you’re there.

It’s fun to imagine what an archaeologist of the future might make of the found notes — including shopping lists, personal reflections, and angry scribbles — currently on view at Stour Space Gallery in London.
