Okay. So what I mean is that I really wish Baron Omatsuri was canon because it foreshadowed future arc really well in a way that felt very traumatizing as well as revealing when it came to Luffy's character and the way he deals with grief.
There ware many ways this is shown of course but my favorite is when after his crew is 'gone' he has to be somewhat told that they are still alive for him to rescue before he is able to fully snap out of the depressive funk.
More over the fighting was really interesting because even without Haki Luffy still managed to pull himself together enough to lock in and go against his opponent.
The raw desperation was beautiful too because he used just his ruber powers and strength to go against a figure so much stronger than him.
He also wasn't the one to officially 'defeat the enemy. That was one of the other pirate captains.
While this doesn't really have any foreshadowing it could be seen or well, could have been seen as a reference to law and kidd and the future alliance also a subtle nod to the fact that Luffy actively is willing to accept help, and help others in return.
Moreover he inspired the other guy to fight back against the guy who hurt him and his family, similarly to law.
AND YOU KNOW WHAT MAYBE I DID WANT HIM TO HAVE SOME EARLY LINGERING TRAUMA TO COME UP IN MARINEFORD/SABOODY.
It would also be another point of guilt his crew could subtly and shortly remember over time and then guilt over post timeskip because saboody wasn't the first time they 'failed' their captain.
I'm just lowkey upset over it T-T
