did you know youre famous? Tumblr always recommends me your blog and I do believe I’ve seen your stuff on Pinterest
Oh, I am? I'm happy to see that I have been recommended to you on Tumblr 🥰
Unfortunately, I'm not the happiest about my work being reposted elsewhere. I have had bad experiences with that. I don't know how Pinterest works, but there are quite a few people on IG who keep reposting my work. One guy even told me that he doesn't feel like he has to stop cropping out my name and reposting my work and actually make money off of it. Because I put it out on the internet and so he is entitled to not give credit and profit off of it. Actually made me want to never post anything ever again... But I like what I do, so I can only ask to please give credit and only reblog, not repost.

can I see calypso doodles/designs? I may or not make her a Tall Girl™️ in my fic cause of your designs
I dug up calypso doodles and whipped up some new ones just for you because you have appealed to my Extremely Fucking Tall Calypso agenda.
GIANT WOMAN~
thanks for contributing to my patron saints post! they’re all from tv shows I want to watch but haven’t yet, so could you give me a brief desc of how they relate to a tragic one way trip?
here is a cookie for your troubles 🍪
Sure thing! I'll give you a quick breakdown on how I think each of them fit the criteria you listed in your post. Or well, how two of them do, because while writing this out I realized that Nuolzot doesn't actually qualify.
Criteria: They are physically going from Point A to Point B. It is not a purely metaphorical journey. They were never supposed to return to Point A from Point B. They had little choice in starting the journey.
The long walk boys The entire premise of the story is that the characters must walk from a designated starting point, until they literally cannot walk any farther (death). In the book there are 100 contestants, shortened down to 50 for the movie, but it's known from the very beginning that only one boy will be returning from The Walk, hence it being a one-way journey. As far as having little choice, this actually comes up through dialogue in the movie, when one character points out that everyone signs up to be chosen for The Walk because winning is the only way to gain financial stability when everyone is living in poverty.
Nuolzot from Invincible It seems I was mistaken about him, because looking it up he does survive to make a return trip back to point A! Nuolzot appears in a singular episode when he arrives to earth to ask the main character, Mark, for help on his home planet, though for reasons I don't want to spoil he doesn't qualify for point 2 either. His species don't live for very long, so the few days journey between his planet and Earth take up the majority of his life span, so when I initially thought of him, I thought he'd died before being able to bring Mark to his planet.
The Hero of the South from Frieren He's a character who appears in season 2, when Frieren recounts his heroism to another character. It's known that he traveled across the continent to fight against members of the Demon King's army. In a flashback, he lets Frieren know that he actually has the gift of foresight, and already knows that this battle will kill him, so there will be no returning home. However, one of the demons he knows he'll be fighting can also see into the future, so it's implied that no one but him would be able to match that demon's power, leaving him undefeatable. I really like this character for the patron saint of one-way trips because he goes on his journey knowing how it'll end, but also knows that he has to do it so he can pave the way for another hero to finally defeat the Demon King.
Hiii! I hope this ask doesn’t come off as rude or pushy but I just have some questions about your opinion on Rick Riordan since I’m new the space of author critiquing.
I guess I’ll add I’m pretty young and a bit sensitive when it comes to things I like, so I automatically assumed since you post so much PJO content you liked his writing. But based on some of your posts, was I wrong? Again, I don’t want to sound pushy, I’m just new to being critical and honest when it comes to authors I like and would like to know your opinion on Rick Riordan specifically. Is he a bad writer? I just got wrath of the triple goddess and I’m not sure if I want to read it based on some of your posts.
Entirely focusing on writing itself and not the content within: I like Rick's old writing. His style when writing first series is dramatically different from his newer material, which I feel has significantly dropped in quality. A lot of the newer stuff feels very unpolished and gratuitous (towards the audience for marketing purposes, not his own interests) and he has a serious bathos problem that stunts the majority of the humor and sincerity that once existed in the franchise - and often severely gets in the way of a lot of attempts at inclusion and representation, to its detriment. Not to mention how condescending it feels towards the reader/presumed audience. It's also very clear he's trying to riff off of his previous success, including directly lifting previous sections and minorly rewriting them to try and achieve the same effect (not in a call-back manner, but just copying his own work).
I won't say his old writing is like, my 100% favorite or the end-all-be-all of literature. I have plenty of authors whose writing is more something that I think is structurally admirable. But Rick's original series writing is good! It became a pop culture staple for a reason! But the quality has dipped so severely as the series progress that it's hard to ignore and it's becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy the books for me because of this. Particularly very recent books like TSATS to me are so excessively full of simple structural errors and similar that it's baffling to me how it even got published or how we got here.
I think out of his post-first series writing, his works I've enjoyed the most are MCGA and Demigods of Olympus - particularly leaning towards the latter. It's simple but very enjoyable to me. TKC to me is mostly fine and enjoyable, and HoO is Just Okay. TOA is tolerable. TSATS and the marketing trilogy though are kind of unbearable for me.
I do love the franchise as a whole and it means a lot to me, which is exactly why I feel so strongly about the drop-off in quality recently. It feels like an insult to something I love and know can be better and has been better in the past - not from a personal perspective, but from as much of an unbiased perspective I can give as someone who has studied writing. So if he's a "bad writer" in general is kind of up to discretion i suppose.
two questions-what other sideblogs do you have? And what’s the story behind your YouTube channel name (the one you posted the Reyna animatic to)?
I actually have 42 blogs total. That's not an exaggeration. At least 16 of those are PJO-specific and then +1 general mythology sideblog. I wear many hats.
I've mentioned some of them before, but this is my main PJO sideblog. This is where pretty much all of my PJO art and ramblings go. I also run @deadangelos which is my PJO askblog primarily focused on Nico (but sometimes others - currently we are in the middle of a Jason arc). @deathsibs is where I reblog specifically art and sometimes posts of Nico or Hazel (or both and rarely a Bianca or rest of the Hades fam), its just a little curated blog. I've slowly been working on @riordanversehub, which is is my project to help make things easier to find in the fandom and promote more community activity and such. @riordanverse-ship-polls is where I do random polls about riordanverse ships just for funsies because I enjoy data collection. I also run @pjocharacterdesign where I will occasionally talk about my design process or post/create character designs for riordanverse characters. And then I also run @readriordan which is my canon/brand url blog. Usually on there I'm just being silly or writing faux readriordan articles. The other blogs you will have to find on your own. Any one of us could be another one of my sideblogs...
And as for Princessponies - that's just my old webkinz username :P my first webkinz was the pink pony one so, yknow. lmao.
I only follow you on your Nico di Angelo side blog so I literally thought you were dead 😭😭😭 I feel so fucking stupid
XD haha yeah my apologizes to everyone who only follows @deadangelos and just presume i regularly fall off the face of the earth for several months at a time.
With the current event, panels take a bit of time to get out and I try not to post too much OOC on there. I'm always yapping over here though.
👁️ I 🌊 see your blog change. 🫵🏽you good?
I tried to say to with my hands 🫶 you’re a good moot
Yes! Just needed a little refresher. I'm feeling a little bit distant from Tay as of late, so I've shifted to Sab for the time being.
