Hi Skye! Been a while from myself, this time a longer not-so-gay question because your recent asks have been intriguing. But! Love your community, love how all of you have been handling all this fandom discourse so well. I'm a casual, but my thoughts and opinions align mostly with you guys over here. It's dangerous, being parasocial when one doesn't even realize it. Some take it healthily, some don't and start harming themselves and others 🤔. People assuming you're not an Oscar fan for also liking Lando is weird to me lol why are some so extreme about this...
Anyway! I like Max a lot, he's very interesting to me and how could one possibly deny his skill and prowess? Dare I say, no one can truly be his type of prodigy. But I'm locked in on Lando this year for the narrative, and would be giggling yet being absolutely devastated should Max have won. I generally disliked his attitude in the past, and glad there's a bit less of it now that he's matured, and his lowk toxicity never changed so that's - a thing. Good? Bad? It's simply a thing. I don't have to like or dislike it! If he drives like, really freaking fast and cool - he's cool! Man. He's so cool. On a side note, I wanna see Max be part of Twitch gang a little bit. Just cause.
And if the bit I mentioned earlier makes me a Lando fan... no, I'm not an actual fan of anyone on the current grid! I needed Lando to win because I like his story, I needed to see this yippee! introverted British boy turn things around. I needed him to take the baton from Max specifically because 2024 poetry, I needed him to show Oscar that loyalty in McLaren can kinda actually work out! Lando winning the WDC imo would give Osc the confidence that working with papaya closely and honestly for some time can yield some pretty good results, on top of already being an outstanding driver such as himself. But I'm no Lando die-hard beyond this WDC. New regs - let's see something new! And if Lando ever gets it again? Shit, we take those ig! If Osc gets it? I will be through the roof! Landoscar back to back! But I absolutely do not wanna hear anyone use that to then belittle Lando's past WDC.
I want to celebrate Osc because of how cool and skilled he is, and how much he's learned from their 2025 season and Lando's win! He is his own guy. The reason I tie Lando's WDC win so closely to Max is because of 2024, and given how Max is already a 4x champ, the breath of fresh air hits like crack - and Max himself said if anyone was gonna win, he's glad it was Lando. I'm just so, "happy for you, the story is complete I can now close the book" about 2025! And now for 2026? I couldn't give a damn! Race away, rich people who get to race fast cars!
I guess what I'm trying to say is, people need a job, or a more fulfilling job, and fun and useful things to do in life. Reconnect with loved ones. Talk to irl people more. Being incredibly rowdy and mean and disrespectful to others so seriously over simple harmless internet stuff is...saying a lot about how they are with other things. I repeat this like a mantra: sports is forever entertainment, drama, performative, and also still an industry, with people employed to do their job and get monthly salary and bonuses just like the rest of us who are employed. All mostly housed in Monaco, getting controversial sponsors, doing PR in varying levels because duh that's just how it is with being public-facing. Shit stirring when you're good, shit stirring when you're bad, going back home to wholesome or controversial loved ones in a hotel... Idk. I'm a working class person with a family barely making it past poor status. But I couldn't care ya know. And! I'm still watching over you and friends doing rpf - and I feel content seeing all the joy and creativity from each!
I understand if it's "let people do what they want" but if it starts to negatively impact others, is that really okay? If it in turn makes them feel troubled, even if I couldn't care less, maybe I kind of care slightly that a person would hurt themselves like that and still be fixed to a problematic cycle of belief? Mm... I feel bad for the sour folks.
But you guys are cool! And although the people I go crazy over have already retired (grandpa Mika, uncle Kimi, uncle Jense) I admire the new guys and their passion for racing, still risking their lives despite most being super super well off! Making every weekend exciting haha.
Ending this on a good note - never stop being you! Hope to see you lot on my dash again. Continue the rpfing, the conversations and discussions, the bond. Cheers! -From a not-so-gay person
Ah thank you this was such a nice message! I agree with almost all of this besides being a real die hard fan of Oscar and Lando!
I’m not a huge fan of Max personally, not because he’s not talented I’m not delusional, just more personal preference for attitude and driving style tbh.
I’m kind of a weirdo where I don’t feel that strongly about my favorite driver always taking the title? Oscar is my favorite, but I did want Lando to win this year. It felt like his time after all the work he’s put in with McLaren, and like you said, how different his attitude is from any other drivers we’ve seen. I really want an Oscar championship next year, that’s absolutely what I’m manifesting then I’d like to see Charles and Carlos at some point, and someday it’ll be Kimi’s turn. I want everyone to win idfk hahahaha.
But yeah, discourse gets to be a lot sometimes and it’s easy for people who are too deep into it to forget that at the end of the day, it’s a sport. It’s never that deep.
Glad you’re enjoying my little misadventures here though! Lol.
