Finnrey Short: Grade School Teachers
“Ms. Rey you’ve got to go for it. Or else you’re gonna regret it again just like all of last year.” Susan, one Rey’s students said at the lunch table.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. You girls are crazy.” Rey whispered at the girls in front of her, noting that Finn was just a couple of tables away.
The previous year both Finn and Rey developed a good relation ship with their 5th now 6th grade students. So much so that now during lunch time they would often be found eating with the students instead of the rest of the teachers in the lounge. Only problem was that Rey’s students seemed to have noticed how close she had grown with Finn and they were disappointed to find out that she didn’t make a move before the end of the last school year.
“Come on Ms. Rey, don’t you like Mr. Finn.” Another student, Jasmine, asked.
“Of course I do. He’s a great friend.” Rey defended.
“No. I mean do you like like him?”
Rey blushed and looked down. “Oh...”
The girls all started giggling and cheering causing Rey to go into a whisper frantic.
“Keep your voices down.” she warned. “Alright, alright. I do.”
“That’s great Ms. Rey. He totally likes you too.”
Rey perked up at Kendra’s statement. She glanced over at Finn’s table. “You really think so?”

“Come on Mr. Finn. You mean you still haven’t done anything?” Kyle, one of boys at Finn’s table asked.
Finn sighed. “Na guys. Rey’s not into me like that.”
“Are you crazy???” Justin complained. “She’s all about you.”
“I don’t know guys.” Finn said.
“Okay Mr. Finn you have to do it.” Mike said. “You have to do it for us.”
Finn raised his eyebrow at the statement. “What?”
“Look everyone knows Ms. Rey is the baddest chick in school.”
“Hey! Watch your language.” Finn defended.
“The point is, none of us stand a chance with her. We’re kids! And I cannot in good conscience graduate from this school knowing that you, the best teacher I ever had, missed out on this opportunity.”
The rest of the boys in the table went around in agreement. Finn heard their encouragement and looked over at Rey’s table. He knew the guys were right, he couldn’t let this year go to waste.
“Alright I’ll do it.” Finn said. “I’ll do it for the team.”
The boys all cheered and started banging on the table, chanting his name.
“FINN, FINN, FINN.”

Back at the girl’s table, they watched the boys chant on for their favorite teacher.
“See Ms. Rey” Susan said. “Mr. Finn is the most popular guy in school! You have to go for it.”
Rey grinned from ear to ear admiring how much love the students showed Finn.
“Alright. I’ll do it.”
