Mandatory I saw x musical and my thoughts.
It was the exit 82 theater production at Strand theater in NJ. I was at the 2:00 matinee
It was PACKED holy moly. During intermission the owners expressed thanks. People came from all over the country. Someone was there from Brazil!
Jeremy was good. His look and his acting were on point. His voice left a little to be desired but he may have had an off night. The mics also seemed a little too soft for the band volume.
Michael was perfect! Michael in the Bathroom was heartbreaking and beautiful. Jeremy and Michael didn't do their handshake, but they still had great stage chemistry.
The Squip was so good. His look was perfection. Again, it was hard to hear him at times. I think the sound balance was a little off.
Christine was AMAZING. Amazing voice. Truly talented girl. And so funny! Her acting was off the charts. She was my fav in the cast.
Rich was also really great. He nailed the IT'S FROM JAPAANN. What else can you ask for?
The rest of the cast was pretty great. Brooke was extremely talented. I liked her a lot. The ensemble was a little difficult to understand at times. And they didn't have very good rhythm. I The Pitiful Children they march in with glowy shoes, and it was completely off beat. Again. This is minor. They were a stellar group of actors.
The fandom audience was a little painful. I know people were super excited to be there and I love the support for the smaller scale theater company. But please don't sing along during the songs, or make comments really loudly before something happens. It's really rude to the rest of the guests, especially anyone hard of hearing or someone who has traveled really far to see the play. They paid to hear the actors singing and talking, not you. I'm glad you're excited, but please try to cap it a bit. Be respectful of the others around you.
All in all it was amazing. Go out and see this production if you are able!! I feel extremely lucky to have seen it.
