I spent the last few days with an amazing group of managers, biologists, and conservationists at the marine mammal stranding response training held by the Belize Marine Mammal Stranding Network. Our dissections of a young manatee and dolphin were bittersweet and remarkable experiences; a chance to learn and prepare ourselves to be the most effective stranding responders we can be. As a team, we discussed best protocols for responding to different species of dolphins and made decisions essential to the welfare of the public and marine creatures. The caring collaborative environment inspires me as a young scientist looking for ways to make a positive impact for the preservation of marine species. #marinelife #marinemammals #marinemammalsofbelize #strandingnetwork #necropsy #belize @wcsmesocarib @thewcs @wcsbelize @oceanic.society (at Belize City, Belize)
