The Mermaid and the Angler...
Oh, I remembered Yuri Yanovsky's "The Master of the Ship." A wonderful work. It was very, very cozy to read. With music by Blondie playing in the background... And I imagined Tayakh as Courtney Love. Unfortunately, I didn't finish reading it.
Halloween Costumes :3
small doodle of me and my irls' halloween costumes! two very different medias, I thought it would be fun to draw them together :0
the height difference between sol and sua is killing me dawg 😭😭😭😭
I had the absolute craziest idea for a crossover. It involves cult-classics-though-still-not-widely-known European movies.
And the idea is this: "Rare Exports, A Christmas Tale" is set in the same world as The Witches of Zugarramurdi (whose official English title is Witching and Bitching apparently?).
Think about it... Las brujas de Zugarramurdi, just like Rare Exports, are these regional horror-comedy movies that rely on a farcical take of European folk horror. But more importantly: both are about, in the end, a gigantic monster reflecting an old mythical archetype, served by a creepy one-gendered species. In Rare Exports you have the real Joulupukki (or Yule Goat-Krampus-Father Christmas, however you want it), served by his army of elderly elves...
And in Witches of Zugarramurdi you have the Mother Goddess/Diosa Madre served by the witch cult.
One is male-centered, one female-centered. One in the North, another in the South, but both in grim landscapes and both about kidnapping and eating children.
I honestly can very much see it as these two movies being set in a world where giants once ruled the Earth as gods but went dormant/instinct/trapped, and now only few remained served by their local monstrous servant-species - a la Cthulhu Mythos. Heck, you can even point out that these two precise entity have something of a Wicca deities going on - a literal Goddess and Horned God, served by "elves" and witches like some sort of grim New Age parody... There's something there.
A little beetle in my ear told me they would get along idk
