I keep listening to Them Changes by Tundercat and its making me want to do Strange Tides related stuff again but I feel awful for not being able to ask my writer if I can do anything or change stuff and make it my own
I put a lot of time into ST and we got some decent hype irl but without them I think it's just going to die off and I should stop holding on hope for contact, its been almost 2 years since we've even talked and even longer since we talked about Strange Tides
Maybe I'll make my own thing and just change the looks of the characters and go the darker route so they can keep the light hearted story they wanted, I'll make new names, characters, locations, plot points, ect

Folk-rock duo Strange Tides release new single ‘Black Skies’
Vancouver-based duo Strange Tides have shared their new single ‘Black Skies’.
The single is heavily influenced by the production qualities of Jenn Grant’s ‘Dreamer’, and the old-country-pop of Taylor Swift, while midpoint transitions bring Fleetwood Mac tendencies. Together with a balance of lyrical reflectiveness and directive dominance, it truly is an undeniably gorgeous listen.
Speaking about the sound of the new single duo says: "’Black Skies’ began with Kirsten messing around on a micro guitar and grew into the sound it is today when Victoria fleshed out a chorus and bridge. Our first song, ‘Criminal’, is sonically more in line with Victoria's grittier tastes, so for our second song, we wanted Kirsten's preference for quirky melodies and unusual instruments to shine. We've got a falsetto bass line in the intro and a baritone guitar, so the song is strangely empty in the mid-range. As well as this, Kirsten pushed Victoria – in a good way - to write a piano part for the track, which our producer Dan Ponich tweaked into something that sounds like the gentle rain the lyrics talk about.”

Not completely happy with this since it's not great but I've got performance to consider and don't want to spend too long on just the foliage.
Marking it as "complete" on my to-do list and returning to UV mapping and texturing the island. Will probably return to foliage at some point in the future, to add things like reeds and lilly grass, twigs and dead leaves etc. However for the moment, for beta/alpha builds, it’s enough in Strange Tides. Will continue learning more foliage techniques in 3D/2D software and engines. Particularly fond of the last screenshot, for no other reason than it looks rather nice. Need to add in an alpha texture and blur the edges a little, clean up that bit on the big mushrooms that are making it look repetitive. Won't be able to use only 1 texture map since alpha channel seems to ditch the data I need, but otherwise getting there. Each mushroom has gone from 50-100 polys down to 5 single poly planes lol. My texture map is set up with enough room to drop in new plants etc without moving any UVs or textures around. -Should- hopefully future proof me.

The sun was blazing down on the white sand, making it almost unbearable to walk on it with bare feet. Yet many were forced to do so as they had to follow after a convoy of slave merchants. They didn’t really have much of a choice. The chains that bound them all together wouldn’t crumble under any amount of force the weakened men could produce.
It was almost like a miracle when the party stopped by a river and the merchants and guards allowed the slaves to go and cool off by the river. They chased them into the water like a cattle. They would be reaching a market soon and a clean and replenished slave could be sold for a higher price than a half dead body.
Nezumi watched from a distance how the rest of the group waded through the waters, trying to stay together and avoid the danger that lurked under the surface - crocodiles. Dozens of predators only waiting for one unfortunate slave to wander further away from the group. The guards took the liberty of shoving spears into the water, but Nezumi doubted that would chase away all the hungry beasts.
Which was why he, Nezumi, aka the only one who didn’t posses any heavy iron shackles, was brought a large bowl with fresh water. His bounds were made of silk, they were just as strong as the rough ones, but didn’t damage the skin. The merchants were smart.
Nezumi cleaned off and drank till his belly felt stuffed. He was tired and underweight, but his skin (apart from sunburn in his face) was unmarred. The merchants knew the price for a well groomed boy and they kept him in good shape and covered in a thin layer of cloth to keep his pale body out of the aggressive Sahara sun.
It didn’t stop Nezumi from trying to escape several times and continuously showing disrespect to his temporary masters. Whatever faith was awaiting him wasn’t anything peachy, anyway.
Nothing, however, could stop him from trying to escape his disastrous faith.
After refreshing his sore muscles and replenishing some of his strength, Nezumi looked around, glared at his personal guard who had been appointed to keep an eye on him since his last escape attempt, and then looked at a huge wooden crate which was being currently transported towards their group. He couldn’t see what was inside, but it seemed it was filled with water, thus very heavy.
An object like that would slow down their travels. It must have been of a great value since the merchants decided to buy it from the fishermen in the nearby village.
