Summary: After all this time and you didn’t know who was working right next to you. Maybe this was it.
Warnings: Language!
You could hear Dacre’s chuckle filling the air around you, his smile so perfectly radiant, so perfectly his. He looked down at his feet and then right back at you, biting down on his lip, you could feel him getting closer and closer by the second. This was it, the moment you had been waiting for. Your bodies were almost touching now, the tension in the air building up and making it harder to breath. You felt your heart beating so hard in your chest that you were sure he could hear it. He stared into your eyes before slowly leaning in and then...your phone went off.
“UUUGH, Wha-?” you woke up to a blank ceiling. No charming Dacre trying to kiss you, no tension in the air, just you and your cold bed. “I might have a problem” you mumbled to yourself before quickly blinking and rubbing the sleep off of your eyes. You stretched out your hand and felt your way through your night stand, finally finding your phone. 3 missed calls and 5 texts from your superior, on your day off. Great. You unlocked your phone, still struggling to adjust to the light.
“Change of plans, early call today: 5:30.” Read the first message. “Now.” “Where are you!?!?!” “We Need you here, NOW.” The texts continued. You squinted to check the time: 5:46. “Oh, come onnn!” you exclaimed as you quickly got up to get dressed. You dug through your closet trying to find something decent to wear but failing miserably, today was laundry day after all. “Are you freaking kidding me? Jesus fucking Christ? WHYYY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING TO ME.” The only wearable thing you could find, and even that was questionable, was an old white button up shirt and some awful looking pants that you should have burned a long time ago. You stared at the combination in disgust, but it wasn’t like you had any other choice. You rushed out the door, momentarily stopping to look at yourself in the mirror as you ran past it. “Yikes.” You hesitated a little bit before shaking your head “Nono, no time to look fancy today.”
You left your apartment and desperately tried to get a ride but no cab would stop. “Fuck, shit, fuckshit, I’m in so much trouble.” Your phone kept buzzing through the pocket in your pants, more texts. You decided that if you still had a chance of not getting fired you would have to make a run for it. This job meant a lot to you, even if you didn’t get paid enough.
As you leapt through the busy streets praying to the gods you wouldn’t get completely roasted by your superior, you failed to realize the woman going just as fast holding a tray of coffee on one hand, phone on the other. In just a split second both of your bodies collided, the coffee splattering all over you clothes. “JeSUS!” you flinched as you felt the hot beverages burning your skin through the thin fabric. “ REALLY? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?” you shouted at yourself “Am I in a fucking movie or wHAT?!”
Even with all your bad luck you managed to get to work. Out of breath and with coffee stains all over, you walked into the office.
“This can’t get any worse” you reassured yourself.
“(Y/N)!!!!” your superior shouted.
“or maybe it can” you mumbled under your breath. “Hey! I-um-I’m here?”
Your superior was giving you his back. “I needed you here by YESTERDAY. Now hurry up before you get us both fired!” He turned around and took a moment to look at you up and down. “Bad morning, I suppose?” you mentally rolled your eyes at him. God, this man. You usually didn’t dislike him but today he was on your nerves. You still weren’t sure if it was because he called you in on your day off or because he interrupted the beautiful dream you were having. Probably both.
You stepped into his office setting your things down on a chair. “What’s going on, I thought I had the day off.” You cautiously said, hoping not to come off as ungrateful.
“The production from the lot next to us is moving in to this one, we have to clear everything out before they start shooting. You’re lucky they’re taking their sweet time, but apparently the cast is arriving soon.” your superior said in a hurried and irritated tone.
“There’s a production next to us!?!?” you asked completely unaware of the fact. He just nodded, wanting you to shut up. “Why are the moving into here?” you said, even more confused than before.
“I don’t know, there was a problem with the one they were in, humidity or something.” he replied in a condescending tone.
“Okay, yeah…that makes sense I guess.” You said, noting his impatience.
“Afterwards we must go through the paper work to complete the transfer, though, and that’s going to be a real bitch.” he continued “but, in the meantime, some trucks will be arriving soon to help with the move, make sure everything is packed by then.” You just nodded. “I’m leaving now, I really need some coffee.” And with that he was gone.
As you were placing some boxes inside the truck it occurred to you that your superior never mentioned the name of the big production that was taking over the lot.
“Hey” you directed at your friend Jenna who was helping you out. “Do you happen to know what the production that’s coming is called?”
“Ummm, well…not really, they just said something about a netflix show of some sort?” she replied unsure of herself
“Huh, I see.”
“I guess we’ll find out soon?” she said with a chuckle and a questioning look.
“Yeah, I guess so.” And with that, as if on cue, you heard cars arriving. Some people started to walk out, at first you couldn’t figure out who they were, probably producers and such, but then you saw him, Dacre freaking Montgomery.
