I'm watching Matt's Multiverse's Byler Podcast episode (RewatchRoom) and it's a significantly better experience than the Friendly Space Ninja video
They DO keep talking about how Byler wasn't obvious to the GA and would need to be more explicitly set up to be accepted and tbh I think I disagree in that this is the entire reason why Byler NEEDED to happen.
The general (straight) audience NEEDED to see a beautifully crafted gay romance sitting right under their noses.
They NEEDED to feel the need to go back and rewatch and attempt to see things through a queer lense.
They NEEDED to be exposed to something non-generic and non-hetero.
My general frustration at the moment is with people's inability to look at things through a queer lense and then acting like we're the crazy ones.
