It’s annoying real bad how everyone is acting like none of the characters cared about El just because of a 40 minute epilogue where we got barley 5 minutes with each character?
As if they weren’t literally sobbing their eyes out at mikes theory. They were graduating high school I don’t think they’d want that day to be spent crying. I’m sure they were sad El wasn’t there, but the truth is no one but the party knew about her so why would dustin mention her at graduation speach
Just because one day out of the 18months they all seemed happy doesn’t mean they didn’t grief her or never loved her. Grief is one of the most complex feelings a human can feel, and there’s more to it then sadness. To me it made sense that no one was crying over her at graduation because sometimes when big life moments like that happen you don’t have the mental capacity to even think about complex things such as grief you miss the person sure but your also too focused on processing and experiencing this major even that the grief doesn’t actually process till later. If anything them crying during a dnd game was so much more realistic because half the time it is just the little things that upset you the most when you loose someone.
Also not to mention why are we blaming the characters and not the duffers who quite literally wrote that finale? Get mad at them for not caring enough about el, not the characters who have show time and time again that el was a loved individual to them. Why are making stuff up that max never actually cared for her or that Joyce only saw her as an asset. These people helped raise her, they loved her and we are shown that in the shown. Just because they weren’t sad after an 18 month time skip doesn’t erase all of that It’s once again just the duffers shitty writing and sidelining of relationships that’s to blame. If they focused on showing Joyce’s care and love for el instead of constantly codling will, or gave elmax a proper reunion it would have made their reactions to els death (and after) more tolerable for people
I just don’t think we should let the duffers ruin these relationships for us with once scene because they couldn’t be bothered to write them accurately
