if there’s anything you guys should know abt me is that i hyperfixate on men in three different ways. order goes from most common to rarest:

1. “oh my god he’s so URGH i need to get him pregnant now!!!! AAAGAGAHHHSHHDEIC”

2. “wow he’s so pathetic i wanna beat him up and crush him with my bare hands until he turns into a measly little pulp”

3. “ok twink ur kinda funny. i like you. you can live. for now.”

penance by eliza clark (5 star book btw)

just finished reading penance by eliza clark. wow! kind of a whirlwind..? i absolutely love the wholeee concept of the book - a review called it "a fiction about fictionalising non-fiction".

carelli is an asshole. the complexities of every single character are so interesting and thinking about how carelli presents them through his own bias makes it even MORE interesting. the references to real life issues within the story (classism, homophobia, racism, ableism + more) made me glad to find that a story about mostly rich white girls also highlights the reality about systemic issues surrounding true crime - and life in general.

i will admit, finishing a book about the dark depths of 2014 Tumblr then immediately opening Tumblr is ironic. clark very obviously researched Tumblr culture very well and, I'm going to be honest, the "uwu yaoi" and "get off your high horse bitch you're literally reading school shooter fanfic" lines DID make me laugh. although it was very interesting to put penance in my search bar and be met with an edit of the murderers in the book! isn't this what the book is kinda poking fun at? to be fair this could be excused because they are fictional characters this time (.. and I watch Yellowjackets!) but you know what i mean.

honestly I will read/watch any piece of media with unhinged lesbians.
