Basil and Port Strawberries
These Basil and Port Strawberries are fragrant and shining like jewels, their taste enhanced by the herb and the port, a delightful sunny day dessert which can also moonlight as a Fro-Yo topping!
Ingredients (serves 4):
a dozen large fresh basil leaves
10.5 ounces fresh strawberries
2 teaspoons caster sugar
3/4 tablespoon good quality Tawny Port
Finely chop basil, and place into a bowl. Hull strawberries and halve them into the bowl. Sprinkle with caster sugar, and drizzle with Port. Give a good, gentle stir to combine. Cover with cling film, and place in the refrigerator, for at tleast a couple of hours. Stir from time to time.
Serve Basil and Port Strawberries chilled, on their own or with Goat Milk Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt.
