Princess Strawbzilla Speaks!

Hubs and I are pleased to say that our beloved kitty, little Princess Strawbzilla, continues to thrive and to enrich our home life. She’s been a great comfort to us since Strawberry Kitty’s passing, and a constant source of cuddles, kitty-kisses and tiny meows.

She also did something incredibly cute recently!

The other day, I saw her sitting on the end of our bed and looking pensive, so I greeted her and said something like “Hey baby girl, are you doing okay?”

In response I got a teeny little “Yeah?”

I told her what a clever girl she was and rushed off to tell Hubs, who looked utterly thrilled and said:

“She said her first word!”

(She is just too adorable. We love her!)

Strawbzilla Update:

Our new kitty had her first checkup at the vet’s today! She is already losing weight (she’s now down to 17lbs) and aside from noting that she is a rather hefty gal, the vet has given her a clean bill of health. We should get her blood panel results back in about 7-10 days, but no concerns at this time.

Nice to have some good news to share for a change!

I’m pleased to announce that Hubs and I have become pet-parents again. Four months after losing our beloved Strawberry Kitty, Hubs was moping so much that I took him to the local Humane Society to see if we could meet some kitties.

Of course, one does not simply walk into the Humane Society and walk out again without a new bestie. Hubs and I were initially drawn to a beautiful gray cat with blue eyes who seemed somewhat ambivalent to our existence, but ended up walking out with the biggest Certified Hecking Chonker in the building because she came up to us with purrs and demanded to be showered with affection.

Which is exactly what happened last time. I think she was channeling SK and he gave her instructions on precisely what to do to secure her place in our home.

Since Hubs insisted on keeping her unusual and publicly-posted name (yes, again, lol - he holds the firm opinion that it’s bad luck to change a cat’s name), she too will have a cute nickname for Internet privacy purposes.

Our colossal and almost ridiculously beautiful 18lb tabby girl will henceforth be known as Strawbzilla.

Long live the queen.
