He doesn't know what has happened. He remembered Eleven's refusal, & he remembered engaging her. But what had she done to him? As far as his recollection went, she had thrown him through the air with such a force she used his body to shatter the two-way mirror in the rainbow room & he wound up pinned to the observation room wall. Next, he had been ignited in a white-hot light.
This was something he had never seen before; needless to say, this was something he had never experienced before ━ for a moment, it was like he was burning, though there were no flames, only the bright light & to his horror, his body had begun to fragment away into tiny grey particles, like ashes floating free of a burning log atop a blazing fire.
& then the smoke came ━ or at least he would describe it as such. It grew dark & thick like fog & before he knew it, he had become cold. He could see again only when the thick smog had begun to dissipate & he found his surroundings had changed entirely. There was no sign of eleven. There was no sign of anything he had come to know.
He stands now in a strange misty world, hair on the back of his neck standing as a chill envelops him, an unintelligible whisper runs through his mind & a memory of his childhood home comes flooding back to him as though he were there again in the very present. He was the spider, the predator in the shadows waiting for an unsuspecting insect to stumble into his carefully lain web.
The sound of footsteps signals an approach, taking his attention. He turns to face their direction, dark & curious, his head tilting to the side as he waits to catch sight of the sound's owner.
