ok tbh i dont actually like the idea of keeping basically wild animals for the novelty (reptiles and insects and all that) but thats just a personal preference i dont go around telling other people that theyre committing some kind of horrible crime for doing something that i dont really get

#like i had hermit crabs but the only reason i got them was to rescue them from neglect #which i ended up inflicting on them anyway lol #now if hermit crabs werent basically all wild caught maybe id have a different opinion but as of now i kind of wish they never became a main #stream pet #also i like animal breeding in concept but ethically i kind of hate the idea of living things being alive solely for aesthetic gratification #i dunno. i guess it depends #basically i consider pets to be companions so if you cant form a bond with one i just dont really get the point of it
