Washington Star Building, Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 1974.
I think the doomed newspaper had already abandoned this building for space in an industrial district near the SE Freeway. The paper went bankrupt and ceased publication in 1981 in the first great wave of newspaper consolidations and closures which left many cities with but a single paper. That is essentially true of Washington, though the last I checked the lunatic-fringe right-wing (Moonie) Washington Timeswas still publishing. Although I was once a compulsive newspaper reader, now I read the “papers” on the web and rarely look at news racks to see what is for sale in the dead tree format.
