Those words were very familiar to Kendall. He had heard them countless times, sometimes coming from his own mouth. They were uttered when things weren’t all right at all just so that the other person would pay attention to something else instead. It was not any different this time around except the person uttering those words was Issac, not Kendall or one of his siblings.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Kendall asked his friend as he knelt down next to him and glanced to make sure that there wasn’t anything wrong. “You took quite a tumble down those stairs, man. Are you sure I don’t need to take you to a hospital?”

Kendall was standing in his kitchen brewing a cup of tea. It had been a long day and the hike around the beach had exhausted him. His legs were feeling like lead from going up and down so many times. Still, it had been good for him to show Charlotte the sights and make sure that she saw the parts of Montauk that the tourists and the summer people never saw. There was a simple beauty to this place, if people knew where to look.

He poured out the tea into two mugs and brought them to the living room where he set them on the coffee table. When he sat down next to Charlotte and heard her admit how tired she was, he nodded. “It's okay,” he said. “That’s why I made tea. Do you want some?”

It was strange how love could make turn a grown man into teenager, but here was Kendall blushing as he walked alongside Charlotte in Central Park. Every time he looked at her face, he felt his love for her crawling all over him and warming him up. She was perfect, he thought. Thoughtful and gentle and quiet, she was everything that he wasn’t and yet that was perfectly okay. Her peace and tranquility was what made him whole.

When she said that her mind was set on him, Kendall took her hand and gently squeezed it. “Same here,” he said smiling in his own way. “It was set on you from the time I first met you at that party.”

                  He can't really help it— the way his shoulders rise, cheeks gaining a hint of colour. Embarrassed, yet he's touched too.

                  ❛ You mean it? ❜ Henry asks. When he'd brought up the possibility of going to study horology and opening his own store in the future, he hadn't expected Issac to be so on board. It just isn't what most parents seem to want their children to say; not even Papa had been content with him being anything other than a soldier. ❛ So, it's not a terrible idea...? ❜

                  It's second nature to doubt himself, but this goes beyond that. Like people who wish to pursue art as a career, the future for a dream like that is particularly nebulous and hard to gauge. He might be putting himself in financial duress simply by entertaining the idea of following this particular passion. He's read up on business studies to prepare for such an exploit, but knowledge won't make people respect art more. That's something he has no control over.

She just barely hears his entrance when she pulls the cardigan closer around herself, a hand resting on her shoulder as casually as she could. Though, a closer look would reveal both the tight grip she has as well as the slowly blossoming crimson to her attire from the decent cut to her shoulder.

"Atticus - hey, I wasn't expecting you. . ."

who’s that atticus guy you’ve been spending your time with, marie? he seems like a unique & very charming man

“Oh, he’s just super nice and caring - I love spending time with him recently. We’ve kind of been learning a bit about each other each time; granted, I wont share his personal things with strangers-but he is very charming and unique.
