“Uhhh, welcome to The Big Doughnut..” she fumbled over her words, almost glad Lars was doing who knows what in the break room. Had he known one of them had shown up, he’d probably be pacing around on the ceiling or something, all in futile attempt to look nonchalant.

Sadie was suddenly hyper-aware of her presence behind the counter, her frumpy shirt and hair and... Why did she care? She didn’t need to care, there was just something about the boy that made her feel uneasy. She swallowed as quietly as humanly possible as he approached the counter in almost comical slow-motion.

It was all pointless, and besides it was                    totally in right now to be a quiet, dark, brooding teen. So she kept to her                   weird ass novel and slowly took a sip of her cappuccino while glancing                   over at the boy.
