You will find yourself knitting and your toddler trying to mimic you. =)

You will grab some thread, a board and a few nails, and create a musical instrument for them to play with.

As you notice that they are getting bored with the musical instrument, grab a page from their coloring book, pound in a few 100 nails, and let them figure out how to make the image appear. =)

You will give them different colors of thread to work with.

You will take the completed work and auction it off! =O

The funds will go towards buying more craft supplies to entertain your toddler. =)

Turkey in the Straw

We were discussing the tune "Turkey in the Straw", specifically the various sets of lyrics applied to it through its history. Some of the lyrics are considered controversial(inappropriate) due to racist content. For those bothered by controversy and displeasing language that accurately reflects history, there is the Disney version. Also, there are many fine instrumental versions.

But...on this day, the 70th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, this 1942 version by Denver Darling and his Texas Cowboys seems the most appropriate:

It's a version of Turkey in the Straw that gets no mention in the Wikipedia entry for the song. Which reminds me, the selective teaching of history is dangerous.
