Stringtronics | Album: Mindbender
This album is a masterpiece. Really. Super double-time extra more.
Why? Because when you listen to it you feel that nice craze in the corner of your brain and at the same time your heart is jumping.
It’s hard to categorize this music because there are a lot of different genres in it. Some refer to it as “library music” which means records created for tv-productions etc. But this album is way more. There’s heart in it. I’m sure everybody involved in the making of it loved it closely. First time i stumbled upon this one i heard it at least 8 times straight. This album is like a journey, you imagine with it complete worlds. Some might say “hey i can hear The Snow-Goose” “i hear Zelda!”. Well, Snow-Goose was released in 75′ and Zelda in 86′, Mindbender was originally released in 72′. Ha!! (you might hear “Moondance” as well).
Conspiracy theory: All good music after 72′ was copied from this album!
It’s just super revolutionary, the sound comes from all over. But they keep a clear musical thread all through the album. It’s psychedelic, jazzy, early-staged electronic, chanson, poppy, groovy, funky, funny, what else... Soundtrack to your individual emotions. Fuck, it is really incredible. I mean, listen to minute 24:00. It’s like this awesome fun western movie but then it becomes something else at 24:49! ‘The quest of OH YEAHH!!!’
Well, I like this album. You should listen to it if you like music. It is really a Mindbender.
P.s. - 09.01.17 - Just found Mindbender sampled here - 17:55 (Barry Forgie - Dawn Mists) appear at 19:04 and prior (Rampue - Katz und Maus)!
