More cosplay notes! Because why not. And some thoughts on stripperific armors on male chars.
Plus, it's better that I get this figured out now rather than later.
I keep looking at this thing and trying to figure out how the 'inner part' is supposed to work. It helps a bit that I'm looking at the AF+ armor right now, which has a slightly different color scheme. And I feel awkward because I go into fighting stance to get better reference shots, and I'm using a Relic+1 right now... so it makes it look like I'm showing off. (It's not hard to tell when someone has a Relic+1... their weapon glows.)
I'm debating on the inner part, and I'm leaning more and more towards it not being an inner part - like, everything is one large gaskin or something. Gah!
Hmm... can one add sleeves to an outfit after it's been sewn together? Or is this just making things more difficult?
Then I hop over and check out the male outfit. I swear, he's wearing a leather armor/shirt underneath. Also, the pic from 1.0 I'm looking at doesn't even have sleeves.
I can either go about this two ways:
One, I can sew everything as one top. I'd have to do some finangling with the lower leathery part so that it hangs properly without showing a seam for the from of the qipao.
Two, I can sew as two parts - the first with the qipao, probably with the collar and sleeves all as one, and the second that's basically a thing leather jerkin that has the piece hanging off it.
Or Two point five, sew the qipao with the sleeves, then collar as part of the jerkin.
I'll probably go with either Two or Two point five. I don't think I need more than a yard of pleather for it...
Well, first I gotta super clean my apartment tomorrow, because I don't want to start something like this with the one big open space in my apartment filled with random crap.
And of course, even making the jerkin will be slightly strange, because I have to cut holes for the from and back slots.
Watch as I proceed to look up my character's crotch in an attempt to figure this thing out. The official art shows that leather piece over the entire part...
Yeah. Dude, that jerkin is the inner part. The male version of the monk outfit has it. Maybe for females it's more of a tanktop. I'll go with that. A pleather, fitted tanktop.
Dangit, and I wanted to breathe in this.
Maybe I'll make it slightly like my bodice, but lace up the side? Preferably the one without the extra thingy.
Mmk. Looks like I'm going with 2.5. Aaaaand I'll need a different color fabric for the collar.
Aha, WAIT. I recall now, the peisteskin gear. It's like it's being worn under this. Which basically means the collar is part of it, and I'll look mildly like a stripper if I take off the outer part.
Okay, I can do this. Qipao has the sleeves. Collar is part of the jerkin/peisteskin gear/something that I recall getting in Stone Vigil, which is filled with stone and ice.
At least one of the things I love about this game is that all the stripperific armors are not gender specific. Meaning that they're equally stripperific on the men. In fact, because women have breasts to cover, it sometimes means that the female chars are MORE covered than than the male ones.
Ahaha, that was funny... I got that armor set at like level 12, went "I'm getting to the next armor set level immediately so I can restore my dignity and wear something different". Then I saw the male chars going "WHY AM I WEARING LEATHER UNDERWEAR AS MY BOTTOM ARMOR."
Kekekekekekekeke...
I'm all for stripperific armors in fantasy (not realistic) games if, and only if, they're equally stripperific across genders. Don't expect me to ever cosplay wearing one though... I'm just one of those people who tends to dress conservatively.
The hilarity when my own mother told me to dress less modestly.
