the fact that it’s 2017 and women and men alike are still responding to the Duchess of Cambridge’s third pregnancy announcement by berating her for being hospitalized and taking time off of work because of hyperemesis gravidarum and saying things like ‘women are built to be pregnant it’s not a big deal she should suck it up’ is the reason why it infurates me that Disney is ignoring and replacing Breha Organa’s miscarriages and reproductive trauma with some completely unrelated physical accident. it’s cowardly, it’s disrespectful to Breha, and it only plays into this fucked up notion that reproductive trauma isn’t ‘real’ trauma for a woman to go through, and in order to have a strong woman who acknowledges that she is not easily stopped, she has to go through some physical trauma caused outside of her own body.
