The fact is, while I don't want to be too harsh on Carol because she was pressured into this, what she did was wrong. The real Zosia wouldn't have slept with her, and Carol knew this, and she did it anyway. They've had sex and Carol still hasn't figured out Zosia is wearing a wig. And I hope Zosia does get cured so Carol can face the consequences of taking advantage of her.
Again, there are parallels to the way sexual abuse victims are sometimes recruited by their rapists to participate in abusing another victim. Specifically because making them complicit with the crime makes them feel more dependent on and allied with their abuser. The Hive might not exactly be playing 4D chess, but eroding Carol's morals until she did something against her own beliefs does certainly seem like a good piece of leverage to discourage her from undoing the joining. I don't mind how dark this show is; I just hope the writers realize the depths of cruelty they are making comparisons to.
And as always, Rita's keen to punish this transgression. Not because she's angry at Carol, but simply as an excuse to do what she wanted to do anyway. If Carol can't respect Zosia's bodily autonomy, that's one less reason Rita should respect Carol's.
