Old Lady in the sunlight. Dixie recently had her annual checkup she’s doing great except that she has luxating patellas. That means her kneecaps aren’t attached as well as they should be. The doctor thinks she should be okay with just some supportive care - a bone and joint supplement to help protect her as she ages. Problem is - she won’t eat it. The vet was confident that she would take the medication because it was a beef flavored chew. Nope. I have crumbled it up and put it into her wet food - still won’t eat it. I have slathered it in peanut butter - still won’t eat it. Hid it in a pill pocket - still won’t eat it. I have mixed it into her wet food AND pour chicken broth/beef broth over it - still won’t eat it. She would rather be on a hunger strike than take this medication. I’m at the point where I think I’m just going to have to open her mouth and shove it down her throat which we’re both going to hate.
