A Stuckyony, Stardew Valley AU
*ahem*
Jarvis and Ana owned a farm in a small town called Brooklyn. Jarvis had been around when Tony was growing up and considered him to be like a son to him, and Tony saw Jarvis as a father figure as well.
When Jarvis and Ana were too old to care for the farm anymore, they moved away. Jarvis gifted it to Tony, but Tony didn't take him up on it right away, instead storing the deed and the key to the old farm house in his safe.
When Jarvis passes, Tony remembers the deed. He and his dad haven't been getting along (they never really did) so he opens up the safe and decides he's gonna cut ties with his dad and go live on this farm.
(Howard laughs "A *farm*?? You'd never last a day working in the fields!"
"Fuck you, fuck the company, I *can* make it and I will!" (quieter, once Howard's left the room) "yes Mom, I'm sorry. I'll write, I promise.")
He gets there and wanders into the main part of town, looking a little lost. Fury, the grumpy but loved mayor, and Steve, the local carpenter, both notice him at the same time and go over and ask if he needs help.
When he explains that "J-.... My father, Jarvis, left me a farm that he used to run here? He passed on recently and I was wanting to check it out-"
Fury just nods. "Of course, Steve here has kept the house in well enough shape. Let me show you where it's at."
They get there and when Tony makes a slight face at the state of the farm, Steve rushes in to assure him he's down to help him out. "If you ever need anything built, or need help with resources, my shop is just up north a ways."
(Tony was pretty sure Steve could rip logs in half with his bare hands, with the way his muscles were bulging through his plaid shirt, but he tried to push that thought down as soon as it popped up)
Tony finds some old tools Jarvis left behind and is relieved to note the building is still sparsely furnished. He could spruce it up later, this looked good for now.
He's determined to make this life work and spends all day working on de-weeding and clearing out some of the land to plant the seeds the local store owner (he thinks his name was Clint) left him. When he realizes some of his tools aren't quite up for the job, he grabs the map Fury left with him and goes off to try and find the blacksmith.
After crossing over the small river that ran through town, Tony heard the tell-tale sounds of a forge and hammer. He headed over and saw the darkened brick building and pushed open the door, peering inside. He sees a brunette with his hair pulled back in a bun, wearing a sleeveless shirt. His muscles were rippling as he swung his hammer down onto some molten steel, shaping he pickaxe expertly. Tony had to stop himself from drooling. (What was with this town and producing unfairly attractive men??)
Tony cleared his throat. “U-Um… excuse me?”
The man turned to look at him, and that's when Tony noticed that his other arm was made of metal. His eyes widened only slightly, (primarily in awe), but he quickly looked back into the man’s eyes. “I was told this was the blacksmith… I was curious about what kind of tool upgrades you offered?”
Turns out the man’s name was Bucky, and he was Steve’s best friend. He was happy to explain the process to Tony and how much the materials and everything would cost him. “If you’re feelin real adventurous, you could go grab the stuff from the mines yourself!” Bucky says with a laugh. He was joking, never expecting anyone to want to do that, but then, a week later, he ran into Tony when he was out collecting resources himself, and something about seeing him down in the mines, chipping away at an ore of iron *did something* to Bucky’s heart.
Tony hates the farm at first, but spite is a powerful weapon, and every time he feels like giving up Howard’s voice pops back into his head and laughs at him, making him scowl and double down and work even harder.
Of course, this lands him in the local doctor’s office a handful of times, from overworking himself.
The first time, Steve had been coming by to check on him, and offer up some advice on how to make some things to make the farm look better, when he saw Tony collapse on the ground. He immediately scooped him up and rushed him to Bruce.
Bruce “Tony, hi, yes, nice to finally meet you. I was hoping it’d be under better circumstances but you passed out from heat exhaustion.”
Tony (immediately trying to get out of bed) “I’m totally fine. I can last another couple hours. Passing out isn’t quitting!”
Bruce “Wait- No one said it was, Tony your body literally isnt used to this kind of work, you have to pace yourself to build up stamina. *Tony-*”
