Meeting with Naomi
On 4th/11/14, i met up with Naomi Kashiwagi to discuss the future of the student weekender app.
I learnt a lot more about the student weekender, and ended up getting an all round feel for the arts and culture event. Naomi told me the purpose of the event was to bring manchester's students into the arts and culture events of different manchester venues including the Whitworth art gallery.
The student weekender takes place on 12th-15 of march, and will consist of exhibitions and music.
We also talked about what she would like from the app, Naomi is very interested in seeing how students are engaging with the weekender, and wants a sort of "Check in" option, She is also interested in finding how they found out about the event - as well as a social network involvement so students can invite their friends.
A possiblility too, was a passport theme, so students can collect 'Stamps' at each event they go to, so in the end they are rewarded with a sort of prize for their involvement.
Over all the meeting was very helpful, and i am excited to take the next few steps. I have told Naomi that i will be pitching 3 prototypes to her and possibly the Whitworth gallery in december. Then i will take it from there.
\/ out.
Student Weekender- The Corridor
This is the final video Me, Billy and Richard made for the student weekender project. in this video logblogbilly made the graphics of the building to add a painted brush type theme to the whole video. to make this theme consistent throughout the whole project I created a map of the key points on oxford road. as you cam see above I also used paint brush type illustrations.
richbrings2lifeblog also wanted to keep the theme consisted and the way he done this was adding a paint brush type to the borders of his text box. that you can see were at the end of the video. from this project we started off as three single colleagues and kid of started doing our own thing. and then later on we collaborated to make the video as one unit.
next time I would just hope that we work better as a team and have more of an input into the project
1136x640 pixels is the size of the monitor in iMovie, however when we cropped the images and illustrations to this size and it cut off important parts of the images. We then doubled this size to 2272x1280 pixels so that no edges were cut off and we could then add a white background to them, and this was the same size as the video resolution which fit the screen perfectly.
We decided to base this animation on Central Library, and if we were to continue the assignment we would then create 5 other animation videos for each of the other venues included in the student weekender event.
Other than being unable to layer the logo over the video within iMovie, another problem with this software is that the main part of the video (the illustration) appears too jumpy and does not run smoothly. We were also unable to reposition the text on the video, as the only options were to have it central, to the right or to the left.
Time lapse street motion video, similar concept to our project ideas
