8 things I wished before I went to university
1. You don’t need a job lined up straight away!
There are plenty of jobs to apply to straight after graduation! Or you can take a year out and go travel. There is nothing holding you back!
2. Don’t take job rejections personally
I got 45 rejections before landing my dream banking grad scheme!
3. If you have a dream career though, having a plan can help
If there is a goal you are working to know, what are the steps needed to get there? Where can you start?
4. 80% of people don’t know what they’re going to do after graduating
And it is fine! Most of my friends are still unsure of where the life is going to take them.
5. If you struggle, tell someone
Never, ever suffer in silence.
6. Sometimes you should choose a party over studying
But you should be equally able to let it loose. Balance helped me have the best time, stay sane and get good results.
7. Don’t worry, you will find your people
They’re out there to meet at party, in a society, during a part-time job, so don’t worry about being lonely.
8. You are in your own time zone
Some become bankers at the age of 21, some start families, some continue studying, some are still figuring things out. Neither of these is superior. Each of those people is in their own time frame, going at their own pace. So don’t bring yourself down by comparing yourself to others!
