Behind the Scenes: Johnny Depp, through the lens of Ross Halfin, 4 years ago (2018), on this day (March 8), with Joe Perry and the Stone Temple Pilots. 

On that day, Ross Halfin started the day taking photos (the last 2 photos) of Johnny in his home/studio in West Hollywood, while he was working with Joe Perry. Later they were photographed on the backstage of the Stone Temple Pilots’ third show of their 2018 North American Tour, which they attended and were special guests, at The Rose, in Pasadena, California.

The white t-shirt Johnny is wearing in his studio, is the cover of the The Sun newspaper released on February 3rd 1979 reporting the death of Sid Vicious; the 21 years old English musician known as the bassist for the punk rock band “Sex Pistols”, which died of a drug overdose on the day before.

Johnny Depp, Josh Homme, Joe Perry and David Johansen, 6 years ago, on December 10, 2015, through the lens of Ross Halfin, on Johnny’s house and studio, in Los Angeles, California.

Although the photos were originally taken on December 10, Ross Halfin only shared the photos days later on December 14 and December 23, 2015 on his site and social medias. On that day, Ross did a big photoshoot with Joe Perry and later spend the night on Johnny’s studio (a.k.a as Studio 1480) with Josh and David and also Bruce Witkin and the producer Jack Douglas.

Johnny Depp, 2 years ago, on this day (February 6), during a video screening on the 2020 Hollywood Beauty Awards.

On that day, Johnny was expected to attend the event in person but due to unknown “obligations for a movie” that came up unexpectedly he couldn’t go neither for this event nor for the City Gala 2020 on the next day. Instead a video was screened for the audience with him honoring his long-time friend and hairstylist, Gloria Pasqua Casny with the “Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling” award.

Johnny Depp, 5 years ago, on October 25, 2016, through the lens of Ross Halfin, in in Johnny’s house and Studio, in Los Angeles, California.

On that day, Ross visited Johnny in his “Studio 1480″, photographed him and also recorded a special video of Johnny announcing his presence on the 2016 Classic Rocks Japan. The photo was only released on November 1, 2016 when Ross returned to London. On his site he wrote: “Back home from Los Angeles, I'd actually gone to see Johnny Depp who is one of the nicest people you can meet and bear in mind what he does for a living and the amount of people that bother him.”

TBT: Johnny Depp, announcing he was going to “Tokyo-kyo-kyo-kyo-kyo”, 5 years ago (2016).

Originally recorded on October 25, 2016 in Johnny’s home/studio in Los Angeles (probably recorded by Ross Halfin who was visiting and photographed him to promote his visit to Japan), the video was only released on November 7 with the official announcement that he was going to attend the 2016 Classic Rock Awards, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena, in Tokyo, Japan, scheduled to happen in only 3 days. Also, the video was released only one day prior his arrival in Japan, on November 8.

(TBT) Lovely Moments: “Message for the DeppHeads 💌”

4 years ago, on this day (January 13), Tommy was visiting Johnny at his house/studio in Los Angeles and took the opportunity to record Johnny thanking his fans as he opened dozens of gifts and letters. The video was shared on his Instagram on the next day. 

JOHNNY: “You have no idea what this means to me and how beautiful this is to me. And your support, and building this book for me, and sticking with me throughout all the… through everything. Thanks for sticking with me through everything. I love you. Thank you, Deppheads.”

Curiosity: One of the gifts Johnny received was a facemask (I know who gave, but I can’t remember now); an item not so used in most countries at that time, except in some countries in Asia, such as Japan... Interestingly the mask was given 2 years prior the COVID-19 Pandemic...

Johnny Depp, Lily-Rose and the One Direction, 9 years ago, on this day (November 9), at Johnny’s house, in Los Angeles, California. 

Although the precise information it’s unknown, on that day, the band was in Burbank, California, to make and film their first appearance and performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Later, Johnny invited them to his house and made a private jam session with Johnny, as the 5th member, playing for Lily-Rose and her friends. Some said that Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson (for some reason, Zayn Malik was absent) were invited after Lily-Rose had lost a show, but some says that Johnny got aware that the band was in the city and invited them once Lily-Rose was a huge fan. Later, after the show, Lily-Rose shared the photos on her old (now deleted) Twitter.
